Should have waited until after I changed my DIfferential fluid to post. And I thought that the tranfer case was bad to change. The differential's SUCK.
No real major problems, just time consuming. I sucked out the old fluid instead of dropping the covers. I plan on either going to Maghytecs or drilling and tapping the stocks for drain plugs, but thats not on the table until spring or summer, but I was over due for changes.
I found it odd that my front differential only took 1 3/4 quarts while the back took 4. 5 quarts. Ran the truck, did the whole figure 8 routine and they were both still to where they should have been. Front was kinda foamy though, but I did check it aprox 1 min after stopping, which I assume was the reason. Back which was aprox 10 min after was fine. I went to Amsoil series 2000 75w90.
Oh I just love sharing my maintenance stories. Anyone have a good way to get the oil into the differential's that doesnt take 15 mins apeice. I was using a funnel with the bendible neck, man that stuff runs slow. I used my squeeze "funnel" for the trans case and didnt want to cross contaminant my diff with trans fluid. Dont know if it would actually matter, but if I did it, It would have mattered with my luck.
Happy holidays
