Since January collectively we, the Ram Turbo Diesel faithful, have enjoyed being the King of the Hill with the 400hp/1000torque rated Cummins 6.7 CGI engine.

Oops...fun while it lasted.

Read the news:
2020 Ford Super Duty: 475 Horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of Torque.

Reportedly 10 speed transmission also. Like 20" tires at time of replacement or rebuild these new trannys and going to be expensive! Also the price tag on the new Ford's will be pushing 100K. Welcome to towing just got easier, and another step more expensive!!!

I agree on the 20" tires, big$$.

My middle son just painted his '15 Ford dually and installed 37x20's. The rear dually wheels are 9" and the front is 12" super single. He didn't tell me what the cost was, I think he felt guilty because his poor 'ol dad is on social security:D

He didn't want me to but I insisted on measuring the dually width...8'11"

I didn't buy my 2019 HO CTD because it was the current top dog, I bought it because it's the only Diesel I'll own. Ford can double the the HP/TQ and I still wouldn't buy it. Let them be top dog, I'll take an inline six in any application due to torque being more important than horsepower. Also the engine is difficult to work on, and if I know Ford like I know Ford, it will be in the shop a lot. The transmission will have to cut it's teeth, and time will tell.

I agree, just looking under the hood scares the he** out of me with those V8's, Ford or Chevy. If I cannot work on it I do not want it because the day will come.

I love the looks of the Fords. Quite a few ranchers have them here, when I asked them they had only good things to say. Too bad they cost $10K more than the equally equipped RAM. I'm not a "brand snob" as they say, I've owned them all, and they all broke down.

Like I said, brand snob. My uncle's 6.0 he bought brand new in 04 is still pulling trailers with 400K + miles. It's funny how the people who preformed routine maintenance had little to no problems. But let's not beat a dead horse or open that can of worms.

I am not a brand snob, sir, as I have owned all three domestics, plus Toyota, and grew up in a Ford-only family. I won't defend the indefensible.

This hp and torque race is absolutely ridiculous! I have a 2003 Dodge Ram dually six speed manual with over 350000 on it and I would not come close to wanting one of those cp4 equipped ticking time bombs...it’s not all about keeping up with the Jones’s (I have the newest and best) its about reliability and dependability and we are really getting away from that unfortunately! Take your 100000 dollar pickup and shove it!!!

somewhere somehow someone made it to 100k with an Olds 350 diesel
My dad made it WAY past 100k on his in a big station wagon! It's been almost 20 years since it bit the dust, but I want to say it had in the neighborhood of 250k.
That thing sure was slow, but boy was it a smooth ride down the interstate.

I remember a wife of a friend in our AZ park crying when they had to pay 4500 bucks for injectors in their Duramax. GM replaced them the first time, a few years later those new injectors had issue and GM would not warranty them.

What my son has found when a customer comes in with fuel problems it is usually poor maintenance. When he questions the owner they cant produce a written record of anything. Time gets away from all of us, "I just changed the filter" don't get it.

I am not trying to pour salt on any wounds, this subject has been hashed out already countless times. Nothing new will come of it. It's over and done. Doesn't matter if it's trucks, politics, religion, etc. Your not going to change someone's mind now-a-days, it is just to ingrained into our modern culture. I was just simply stating that I know many that are still going without any issue, be it luck or what have you.

Sad but very true. Seems like "you're my enemy if you don't agree." When did that change? It's completely ok to disagree, heck, even be offended. That's just life. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

I think this new way of thinking came about from "anonymous people from behind a keyboard" on the internet. Face to face that used to never happen. Sure, disagreements did, but not many escalated so quickly and so polarizing so instantaneously. I try to learn and keep an open mind about everything. Doesn't always work, but I try. Being respectful goes a long way though.
