Sulfa Tabs - anybody try these?

Freightliner plans Mexico factory despite layoffs elsewhere

Me: Is that your POS dakota in the parking lot?

Him: Yep, it's for sale.

Me: how much

Him: 9200.

Me: year? miles?

Him: 2000, 92,000.

Me: Heh, try a bit lower.

Him: You could use it for a parts truck.

Me: Sorry, parts are about 1/3 to small.

Him: It's got a magnum V8, it has a lot of power!

Me: I have more torque in one cylinder then you have for your entire motor

Him: .....

Me. *guessing, with corrected fueling box not dynoed in my sig here* 1200#'s at the flywheel is about 200foot pounds for one cylinder. And that's perty close to the output of that dakota.

Him: wow. ok never mind.

Me: when it's $1500, let me know, I'll buy it.

I have a Dakota, I love it.

For what it's built it is a fine vehicle. Not all uses of a vehicle demand a big honkin engine.

May not demand a big honkin engine. But it's sure nice to have one :)

 I didn't think that was funny. Nothing wrong with owning a Dakota. Besides, they are lot more economical then our fuel hogs for a daily driver.

wow, lighen up. it was a funny conversation!

And how economical would it be to have both trucks? not very much at all.

Well except you prob hurt his feelings calling it a POS and making fun of it.

There is a cost/benefit to most decisions we have to make.

Maybe I'm too sensitive!

Ok I guess if you say how econmical would it be to own both trucks then why the Hail did you ask the guy about it and then slam him on it? I dont think its funny at all and I think you are being a moron for acting that way.

This is twice you have ran your mouth that Ive seen and not followed through. .

1) the tire burn-out challenge at the dyno meet (excuse was you had bad tires and couldnt afford new ones yet... .

2) then you ask a guy about his truck for sale and slam him on his price... only a little less than a month after you couldnt afford tires... . and you offered the guy 1500 for his truck??? tires dont cost that much!

I dont nor wont ever have the time of day for you after seeing the way you act better than thou but cant even hold light to a TRUE better than thou. People like you make me sick!

Some of the little trucks are nice if you don't haul or tow heavy. My neighbor has a very sharp Ranger. Not very useful for hauling a couple of yards of rock or towing a travel trailer. Of course I make fun of his truck and he does the same of my noisy monster.

The Dakota as I've said earlier is a fine pickup for what it is built.

I hauled my 67 Chev to WA from IA with it and it got by just fine. The reason I bought it in the first place is because it is a true 1/2t with a v8 and yet no more than that.

I would never put it to work on the farm. First it's too darn dusty(the fields not the pickup), second it could not put up with the roughenss, and third I want a clean pickup to go to town.

One would never hook it up to a 5th wheel, and it should not be purchased to do so.

I wish however, DC would come out with a small diesel for it. I have always been and always will be CI engine bigot!

On the other hand I keep my vehicles forever so even if they did it would be eyars before I trade the one I have!

It was 2 guys BSing around about a truck. He's always been complaining about the truck and I've never seen it prior to this morning.

It's not like I went up to a random person and said "your truck sucks". You should factor in the sarcasm here in my "funny conversation". you'll note how he said "it has lots of power". And I countered with, I have a truck that already has more power in one cylinder!

As far as the burn out contest dude. ohh for cying out loud. it was a suggestion. . I never did state I'll burn my tires off. At the time I just bought a house and cash was for other things. Last thing I needed was 2 blow outs. I finally got some cash in reserve 3 or so weeks ago and dropped it on new tires. And it's rather pointless of a contest when everyone leaves and the last 3 or 4 people there due a few burn outs. . Tho, impressive amounts of rubber on the ground when I drove by a few weeks later!.

By all means people. Take stuff the wrong way and assume everything is all suit and tie business.

And he's not going to end up selling for $1500. he'll sell for much higher then that :) he's first trying to find a retard to buy it for $9200. :)

I like my 95 Dakota. 318 auto, 75000 miles and runs great. It has never ben towed any place, unlike my 05CTD which had an injector stick open at 15000 miles :( I had to watch a Ford :{ tow truck take it back to the dealership. I like both of my trucks.

Will the Dakota tow my 10000 lb trailer? no. I do not tow the trailer every day, for those days the Dakota works fine. THE DAKOTA IS FAR FROM A POS.

Again. You need to read clearly what people type and you won't get this misconception.

At the MNTDR thing, I don't even know what you look like. I do not know, face to face wise, very few people. If you knew me, why didn't you approach and say something?

I was almost going to get a quad 05 dakota with the V8 and 5 speed 4x4. Have a buddy of mine who built a few older dakotas to run 10's on a street setup help me build a blower setup for it and leave it at that for the most part.

But I figured the CTD would of been a better investment in the long term. Holding is value longer and higher. This was WAY before I knew you could double the HP with a few boxes!

Then there's the one 98 v6 5 speed 2wd Dakota I had for a day. My gosh that was a pig and couldn't get outa it's own way. My GF in her oil leaking, muffler missing, Aspire would walk this truck in the straight and in the turns!

There's that rental Dakota I got when my lift pump died. Brake torque in a v8? No go! . Worked well on gravel roads, that's about it :) Down shift to accelerate at 70mph. ohh please.

Frankly, I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the Dakota. To each their own. I'm sure I'd get better millage in my CTD then if I drove a Dakota the way I drive.

Hey Jason,

I drive a Ford Ranger w/a 2. 3L four cylinder. It will climb any hill a round around... . given time. LOL I love it only because when I get some idiot behind me riding my bumper during an uphill climb (at about 40 mph) I know that if I wanted to I could jump into the Dodge Ram and climb the same hill at nearly any given speed. . with a trail of black smoke. :D

It will also haul a few pieces of wood too! I think it's rated at 90 horse power.

:)

My dad had a S10. 4-coke canes for cylinders (ok, they were a little bigger then that, but close). 4 speed slush box that seem to never get into OD. 2wd.

I remember one time I flew back to MI and that was my truck for the weekend. couldn't complain I suppose.

So here I am, WOT, motor running on the redline and I'm getting passed like I'm standing still in the right lane on I696. :) poor thing. :)

I used to have a '95 Dakota with 190,000+ miles, 2. 5L I-4. It was old, tired, engine almost worn out. When I bought my CTD. I got 20-21 MPG with the Dakota and 18-19 with the diesel. Spending all morning accelerating to get up to 70 MPH and punch it in the CTD, bam there. Down shift to accelerate @ 70, CTD- just give it more go juice.

I loved my Dakota, but love my CTD much more. Bought the Dakota when I just wanted a truck but didn't need to haul anything. I now have a travel trailer that weighs more than the dakota did.

Bottom line the Dakota was a good truck, not a Cummins, but a good truck nevertheless. ;)

I have one more Dakota story.

I have a 92 with the 5. 2. it just turned 300,000 miles!!

Motor still is using the factory installed valve covers. Motor never worked on. Second trans. Paint is rough, and some people ask when I plan to get rid of it!

Answer---- when it starts costing me money.

BTW, it has had Mobil 1 delvac since it was new, changed every 5,000 miles. It is still at or very close to the full make when I change it.

Good story Jason.

a bit off the dakota topic. , my GF's toyota camry has 315,000 miles. Can of restore and some power steering stop leak and the majory of the leaks stopped. transmission or motor maintance or replace/rebuilds are unknown, but the little car runs great. it's an 89 or 87 or something.
