Put my truck in the paper the other week. Wanting to sell it before I get too many more miles on it so I can down size to a 2500. Anyway, I get a call yesterday from the local Toyota dealer. He asks if I've considered selling to a car lot, "they are looking for trucks like mine to have on the lot". I told him if he's got the money he can have it.

We both him-haw around and then he asks if I'm looking for a new truck.
I say, "yeah I'm gettin' another DODGE".
He asks, "have you thought about a Tundra"?

I say, "no, I need a TRUCK. I do alot of towing and I don't think you're Tundra will cut it".
He conters, "well the Tundra can tow quite a bit. What ya towin'"?
I begin to list the gooseneck horse trailer, gooseneck flatbeds, dual-tandem pintle hook flat beds, etc. that I've pulled over the last couple years. "Think your Tundra can yank 10-12k lbs around"?
His reply, "Oh..... "

Thanks, but no thanks Mr. Toyota. #ad

standard disclaimer: when Toyota decides to get serious and build a big truck with a diesel I may be the first to have to eat my words... . #ad

Chris, after listing all that you tow, why are you going from a 3500 to a 2500? Just curious.

That is hysterical. I love to see those toyota commercials when they talk about how their "trucks" can tow and how much of a workhorse they are. Yeah maybe if you just want something to haul the lawn mower down the street to mow Granny's yard. I just can't stop laughing. That's a great story! Thanks for sharing it.

When I started thinking about towing a racing sailboat around the country and combined that thought with my desire to get more than two up into the Sierras during winter I decided my '90 Toyota 4X4 SR5 V6 needed more than aftermarket accesories could offer. So I bought a '99 2500 4X4. It's a truck like the Toyota never was or will be. In fact, I told the guys on the Toyota 4X4 website that instead of trying to squeeze more performance out of their underpowered V6s they should consider a Cummins powered Dodge . . . it gets better mileage on top of all its other obvious advantages. Yeah, my Toy is just that . . . a go kart with 4 wheel drive. But, It's a lot of fun to drive and at 142k miles it's still going strong. Besides, it will actually fit in my garage. Everything's got its place and purpose.
