I am going to revist an issue that I thought was the bearing/hub assembly. I just replaced them yesterday. This vibration is occuring when i am making a left hand turn, while breaking straight or with the wheel turned to the left. The vib. seems to go away when i put it in neut. it is an automatic. is this maybe an issue with the master cylinder, or the brake booster. I noticed this problem about a month ago. I just replaced the brakes; machined the rotors, and put new ceramic pads on it. it is the same. The tie rods need to be replaced but i don't feel this is an issue with the steering more the brakes.

Have you checked out your u-joints out for wear? if its a 2wd i guess it doesnt appply... Another thing would be ball joints.

good luck

I guess it can be hard to tell without knowing the frequency of the vibration.

From what you describe, I would check the joints in the knuckle first. Also, the ball joints. If they are out of alignment, they can cause all kinds of issues.

I would jack up the axle, leave the tire on and turn the wheel towards th offending side and give the stire a spin. It may be that easy.

What is your tire size? Are they rubbing at full lock?

Dave

those are good suggestions. I just replaced the ball joints about a year ago. they are in great shape. i will give the lift and spin method a try, but it seems to occur mostly when i am braking. my tires are 285 75 16 toyo open country a/t. it also happens in two wheel drive also

285s with no lift will rub the control arms at full lock... check for a shiny spot on the control arms... that's my bet.

I run 285's, no lift and factory wheels. No rub anywhere.

Dave

It depends on the wheel, the tire, and the pressure.

I had the same 35s on the same rims rub at 35 psi and not 50 psi.

The moral is just because your's don't rub doesn't mean his don't...

It was a suggestion... 285s rubbed on my no lift, stock wheeled, 99 2500 CTD.

Sounds like the same problem my brother had on his 99 2500. He replaced his brake rotors, pads, and u joints. The u joints were the majority of the vibration.

I think the best suggestion is going to be the U-joints are those the ujoints in the axles or the drive lines? my tires are equal to a 33 12. 50 they don't rub, and the vibration occurs mostly in 2wd. I appreciate all the input.
