I just ran out this morning, and still had 30 miles DTE reading on the overhead. Maybe the bigger tires or TST/EZ throws this off? I would have thought that the overhead DTE was correlated to the fuel float/gauge instead... oh well. Looks like I'll be filling up at about an 1/8 of a tank from now on!

I put 34. 8 gallons in it, and it clicked off. I didn't wait around to top it off, as I was in a hurry to file a police report for my pick-pocketed wallet... :(

Running empty, driving 55mph(pine cone glued to acceleretor pedal and me barefoot) I made 67 miles past dte 0. No vent kit yet. I always seem to have the extra time to fill all the way up. It took 39. 785 gallons and I had 821 miles. To those folks who will claim BS I say slow down, way down ya'll are the reason fuel costs so much. If we were all more conservative with our driving we would use less fuel. This is the first diesel I have owned and it is 5 times the truck I used to have. It is heavier, more powerful, has two drive axles, can carry more, has more gears, more interior room, and gets better mileage than the 300I6 I used to own could have ever imagined.

S L O W D O W N!!!!!! Ya'll remember the slogan "55 saves lives" ?

IT SAVES FUEL TOO!!

Why would we claim BS, You only got 20. something mpg. There are guys on here that claim more than that. I remember that slogan. It was way back when the speed limits were actually 55... Try that on the interstate now where speed limits are 70-75mph, and you are just as dangerous as the guys speeding, and even more self righteous.

Do those of us that drive for a living a favor and obey the other sign that is STILL posted on the interstates: SLOW TRAFFIC STAY RIGHT.

I'll take the 2mpg loss I incur driving 72-75mph (legally) in exchange for the income generated by saving more than an hour of drive time each day.

Now for the topic, I drove mine to 35 past DTE and still had 2" of fuel in the bottom.

Sounds like mine must be messed up. In un-familiar territory (looking for fuel), the low fuel light came on at 37 DTE. I pulled into the station at 2 DTE, the pump clicked off at 35. 1 gallons. I wonder how much fuel the 35 gallon tank really holds?

My '01 would flip the "low fuel" light on with about 10 gal. left in tank. The '04. 5 isn't quite that bad, but I have gone about 30 miles past 0-DTE at 10mpg and I didn't have to walk. I did sweat a little though.

Are the fuel lines in our tanks at the lowest point of the tank, or would that make too much sense? Also, I've heard 2 theories on the running out of fuel senario- 1: you are screwed, you gotta pull the filter, prime, add 5-10 gals to the tank, then try starting again. 2: just add more fuel, then turn the key to the on position, it primes itself, then turn over, like a gasser.

I went 30 miles past 0 DTE also while doing the vent kit install. Still had a estimated 3 to 4 gallons left in the tank,it might even been more than that. The dang low fuel light staying on was starting to really bug me more than anything.

When I first changed my filter I forgot to have some fuel on hand to fill the cannister with. I just put the lid on, turned on the key, let the pump cycle, repeated that a couple of times and it fired right up. After that I would think that scenario #2 is the right one for the third gens that is.

Have gone around 80 miles after 0 DTE, proceeded to fill up over 40 gallons more then once! Most being 41. 4 IIRC

Man! You guys that have gone in excess of 50 miles past have much larger stones than me! :-laf I got nervous when I went 5 past!

I ran mine 50 past DTE=0 to do my vent mod. After the install I was curious soooooo..... It ran out exactly 90 past DTE=0. I planned ahead and had 5 gallons with me in the back of the truck. :D
