Thanks, TDR Staff

Oil is way down

Gotta love them furds

I am sure they will realise their mistake as soon as they notice the best mileage their truck will ever get is 12-15MPG. They will remember your truck at 20+

My brother-in-law says he gets 17 MPG on his 08 Super Duty, 6. 4 Powerjoke, towing his 29' Cherokee 5er.

I know, I told him that the best way to increase your fuel mileage is to lie about it.

I laughed when I read your closing line. You summed up the entire subject in only a few words!

Your b-i-l may get 7 mpg when towing. Lying or wishful thinking is the bottom line on the majority of fuel economy discussions I have read or heard.

Also suggest the heated tailgate option... so their hands won't get cold while pushing it in the winter. :-laf

*Note* this is a personal suggestion, and not one directly from Geno's Garage. :D

Andy,

Bet this would be a HOT selling item for Geno's!!!:-laf:-laf:-laf

Ray,

I know how you feel... . I felt the same when my brother was excited when he bought his 05 PSD. Maybe your daughter could pick up a nice old 12 valver for herself so she has reliable transportation ;)

Good Luck!

Paul

Thanks for all the posts.
He has an engineering degree, and works for a big const. company. He knows nothing about automotive mechanics.

Ray

Maybe so, but you would think that when he went for the test drive, and the sound of the engine was like a metal suitcase... full of forks... being rolled down a fire escape... he would have suspected something was not quite right. Maybe Ford salespeople crank the stereo before turning the key.

I don' t think that i would want to work on the 6. 4 furd. Have you ever looked under the hood of one of those things?

Holy cow, it has to be the worst underhood engineering in all of human history. Who in the world could look under that hood and think "job well done".

Is he a civil engineer? That would explain the lack of machine knowledge.

Like I always say, most people decide what fuel economy their vehicle has and report that as fact. They also believe it wholeheartedly, so they're not really lying.

Do you offer this option for fords?:-laf

Tell your daughter of all the inglorious possibilities with their new truck so they don't blame you when they have issues. ;)

I can't agree with that comment. I'm mechanically inclined and so are most of my Corps of Engineers friends, who are Civil Engineers. In fact Civil Engineers are good at almost anything, hunting, fishing, camping, RV'ing, fixing anything and drinking beer.

I didnt' mean to insult civil's. I was just thinking that usually civil engineering doesn't have a whole lot of machine design in it, so someone coming out of a civil engineering program might be statistically less likely to be machine knowledgeable.

Maybe I'm wrong? I apologize if I've offended you, Grizzly.

Ryan

My friends son in law bought a Powerjoke and he is also a civil engineer mid twenties asked him where he got the "skewed data" that he used to find the finest diesel made. I told him the only "real" diesel are in-lines. He just had to spend a bunch of money at the dealer for a new computer. I didn't beat up on him to bad , guess I felt sorry for him. I find most engineers to be nerdy , only a few are real men , hunt, fish drink a few beers and know Jesus Christ.

No offence taken Ryan. Some mechanical design is part of the Civil Engineering curriculum. I believe that most Civil Engineers are savvy on most common everyday things.
