I am sure they will realise their mistake as soon as they notice the best mileage their truck will ever get is 12-15MPG. They will remember your truck at 20+

My brother-in-law says he gets 17 MPG on his 08 Super Duty, 6. 4 Powerjoke, towing his 29' Cherokee 5er.
I know, I told him that the best way to increase your fuel mileage is to lie about it.
Also suggest the heated tailgate option... so their hands won't get cold while pushing it in the winter. :-laf

Thanks for all the posts.
He has an engineering degree, and works for a big const. company. He knows nothing about automotive mechanics.

I don' t think that i would want to work on the 6. 4 furd. Have you ever looked under the hood of one of those things?

Your b-i-l may get 7 mpg when towing. Lying or wishful thinking is the bottom line on the majority of fuel economy discussions I have read or heard.

Holy cow, it has to be the worst underhood engineering in all of human history. Who in the world could look under that hood and think "job well done".
Is he a civil engineer? That would explain the lack of machine knowledge.
I can't agree with that comment. I'm mechanically inclined and so are most of my Corps of Engineers friends, who are Civil Engineers. In fact Civil Engineers are good at almost anything, hunting, fishing, camping, RV'ing, fixing anything and drinking beer.

I didnt' mean to insult civil's. I was just thinking that usually civil engineering doesn't have a whole lot of machine design in it, so someone coming out of a civil engineering program might be statistically less likely to be machine knowledgeable.
Maybe I'm wrong? I apologize if I've offended you, Grizzly.
