thinking about selling

Thanks for the advice, patriot.

I wasn't able to get it all cleaned out tonight, hopefully tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens.

Ya really think it'll be ok? I've heard horror stories...

Just drain the tank, change the filter. prime the system, break all the injector lines loose and purge out all you can. You might add some 2 stroke oil to the fuel... .

The little engine that destroyed itself was a common rail engine that always runs at full speed and at or near rated h. p... ...

Very seldom do we hit rated speed and full torque on with our pickup truck applications.

Yea, the 12 valve is pretty robust.

I'd do exactly what I said and just listen to it for a while.

Adding some 2 stroke oil isnt a bad idea either.

I dont know what temp it is there, but I'd disconnect the grid heater just to be safe.

I'm far from an expert, but I'm sure it will be OK.

Thanks For the help guys!

Patriot, thanks for the tip about the grid heaters, I had not thought of that.

She's Alive!! :D

After draining the tank, blowing out the lines, dropping the screen, changing the filter, and bleeding the injectors... she fired right up. Easier than I ever thought she would. Smoothed right out in just a couple of seconds and sounded as dependable as ever.

I just drove it for about 15mi and she sounds tight, runs as well as it did on Fri. Woo-Hoo! I topped it off and will update with the mileage about the end of the week.

Of course I have no idea what the long term effects will be. I'm curious as to your thoughts on the condition of the injection pump/head gasket/valves/pistons...

Thanks again, Gentlemen

Glad to hear it.

You've been pretty lucky so far. Only time will tell with the overall engine.

I wouldnt sweat it though. Just run it like you would and watch for bad signs.

If you've damages something, it will show up eventually.

About 60 mi so far, runs fine, but she's been hard starting cold. And not that cold, 55F this morning and 75F at lunch. once its running it's fine. Hopefully runing this tank of fresh fuel though will help but I have my concerns... Think I'll have to do something before the fall.

Fixed the few leak, no more hard starting!
800 mi. since and she seems to be running fine!!
I feel like I dodged a bullet; only time will tell I guess...
