The Green Monster (http://www.davidvt.com) went in for a (near) last warranty pit stop the other day... . Results:

Both rear axle seals replaced due to leaks causing rear brakes to lock up. "we've seen quite a few of these"
Power steering pump on order for replacement due to low temp 'howl'.
Front 'sway bar' bushings on order due to front end 'clunking'.
Trailer hitch recall brackets installed.

They did not evaluate the lift pump as I rushed them a bit. Will get that done when I return for the other parts mentioned above.

They did not evaluate the lousy fuel gauge problem again, due to time constraints. Hopefully next time... .

The PE was powered up when I picked up the truck, suggesting the mechanic must have tried it out during his road test. . #ad

(by the way, to DC VIN:4I2NODC2NOT was worked on at John Doe Dodge in east BFE) #ad

How can I find out if I have the bad trailer hitch - I have an 01(early no disc brakes). BTW I've had mine 6since July and have 30,000 on her. Runs fantastic.

The hitch, see Dave Fritz's site. I think TDR has links to it, if not go to my site's link page. (link in the sig at the top of this thread)

I guess John Doe Dodge is a franchise... #ad

The power steering pump howling at low temp is interesting. Mine does this and I thought it was just a low temp issue that I had to live with. If I read you correctly David, this is a warranty replacement item. I guess I need to see the Dodge Boys.

BZIN/UL,
I thought the same thing, but decided to ask about it on the 'final' visit. To my surprise they decided it was to be replaced.

I have to admit that it 'feels' like the brakes have been more and more 'effected' by lack of power assist on the cold mornings.
To that end, I almost cut my wife in half when parked on a slight slope one morning. The truck was just started and she was getting in. I placed my foot on the service brake as I normally do. Something to my left distracted me and at the same time I released the parking brake. The shrill yell to my right was the only thing to tell me that the truck was rolling backwards. I few more inches and I would have pinned her to the front bumper of her Suburban.
My fault for not paying total attention, but clearly from that point on I've been very aware of needing my foot power on the pedal to hold the truck when it is very cold.
So, I suspect that there has been some loss of pressure from the pump.

Good Luck
