DaimlerChrysler Corporation and Union Pacific today announced the formation of a new company that will use the Internet to track vehicle shipments from assembly plants to dealers in order to substantially reduce the vehicle delivery time of factory-built Chrysler Group products in North America.

The company, Insight Network Logistics, will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation, parent company of Union Pacific Railroad. In addition to reducing the order-to-delivery time of Chrysler Group products to consumers, Insight Network Logistics will be dedicated to increasing network efficiency and reducing logistics costs across the Chrysler Group's North America supply chain. The result will be a savings target for Chrysler of approximately $280 million over the next six years.

Do you think they could find my crew-cab? It's white with tan interior, 300 Cummins, 6 speed and 3:73 gears. If you need more info, call me... ... ... ... .

White crew cab

You bet, they've got your crew cab. That configuration only comes in black with stealth foam velco'd on to alter its appearance. You need a special license and "connections" to drive one. Should be available in white just the way you want it in '03 (dunno about the gearing tho). By then, they'll be able to get 'em to you eager buyers more quickly.

I wonder how well that will work?. Do you know often CSX "Loses" frieght cars in a YARD let alone the whole rail system. It happens ALL the time. We had a new guy accidently put 3 cars in a train to Chicago instead of Florida. It took over a week to figure that out.

So, if they're so danged efficient now, where's my new truck that was built August 1st? Last time I checked, it was still sitting in the staging lot at the plant waiting for a train!

(Just kidding - sorta!) ;)
