Guess what I got today?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this,'cause it kinda rambles, but let's try here first... .

On Wednesday passed (tried to post earlier but a garbage truck ripped down the phone lines) I did a little work on my truck and thought that I would share the experience.

FYI... those cheesy plastic oil pans that double as waste oil canistears, sold at Wally World, will not keep up with the flow from our beloved Cummins crankcase, I found out today.

FYI... the 1/2 drive strap wrench is a great tool to use while removing tight oil filters, I found out today.

FYI... even Rotella T does not smell in the cab if your breather bottle has somehow fallen off, I found out today.

FYI... for easier fuel filter canistear dumps on the 2001's, remove "shorty" and replace same with a 3' length of clear plastic tubing. You can tuck same in a hole in the frame when not in use, works great, reaches the ground NOW, I found out today.

FYI... for those of you that change your fuel filter and don't bother to drain the filter housing, you should as there is sediment on the bottom, I found out today.

FYI... it is real scarey, after you "bump" the starter and still have to wait for more than 2 seconds for the Cummins to come back to life, after doing your first fuel filter change( kinda like waiting for your wife to give birth for your first child, 'cept different), I found out today.

FYI... the SPA gauge is the catsa$$, I want more of them, I found out today.

FYI... the SPA sender wire for the temp. will not reach my Mag-Hytec rear without splicing same, I confirmed today.

FYI... the Mallory 4150 provides 11 psi's at idle and 6 psi's at WOT, at least with my truck and otherwise stock lines and banjo bolts, I found out today.

FYI... my wife really does understand my newly acquired "diesel affliction" as she took both of our girls out for the day so that I could work on the truck in peace, I found out today, thanks, Hon !!!

In closing, I just want to say thank you to Nowel (HVAC) who helped me choose the correct SPA and Brandon for all of the help with the FP sender location and great long distance conversation.

You mentioned the oil pan that doubles as a waste oil storage container, your right that it can bareley keep up with the volume of oil draining from the engine, it also cant support the weight of my truck either. I found that out the hard way too. After i drained al1 11 quarts and replaced the cap on the drain pan, i asked my freind "Is there anything in the way before i back up?", he said "No", well he was wrong. That pan popped like a Zit and i got to spend the afternoon cleaning 11 quarts of BLACK diesel oil off my truck and driveway.

With "friends" like that ... , but I guess you need to take some responsibility too, huh. What a mess! Did you call Hazmat?

Bigsaint, You have the larger fuel lines on your truck right?

For fun try this. Loosen the nut on the bypass adjustment on the Mallory fuel pump and turn the allen head adjustment in a quarter turn. Lock the nut on the adjustment and report your pressures here.

Nowel, still have the stock lines. As for the bypass adjustment, is that under the cover at the bottom of the Mallory ? Sorry for the dumb question, it's dark here but I'll go out now and take a look.

Nowel. okay, think I just found it, sent you an e-mail.

Mopar, I finally figured out what the banjo bolts are #ad
still kinda new to this. Maybe you could send an e-mail and enhance my knowledge as to where I should proceed next. I did follow your post on the lift pump R+D as best as I could, still not quite sure on where to go from here.
