Sorry for the delay on the article in the TDR magazine. Correlating between us and Blumenthals took longer then expected. But the article has been written and submitted for the next release. The solid flywheels are done and in stock for both the single disc and the dual disc. The report I received just this morning on a single disc install was that the customer was able to achieve higher boost #'s. I think this may be do to the overall weight of our clutch pack is lighter then the dualmass system. He said it shifts good, performs well and engages a little closer to the floor. He also said that he did not hear any neutral clatter which was one of my main concerns.

i should call dodge and say i can read the future and you are going to start selling more 6speeds. i will not tell them how i know this but it will be the case... good job pete!!

I would like to add something for the record. The NV5400 isn't as rock solid as one might think. My truck has been at the dealership for 3-1/2 weeks now with transmission problems. Go to the Dodge talk forum and read under the subject, 3rd generation drivetrain and look up the caption of 'Loud hummying noise' and read what I have already wrote. Not all pieces of mechanical equipment are perfect. And boy have I found that out the hard way. #@$%! The dealer that I have my truck at, well I should say the service department has really tried to help me out, but Dodge corporate headquarters, now thats a different story.

Remember to support our troops.

2005 3500 dully NV5400 and a punch of goodies.

wrong again nv5600 ;) this transmission is very noisy! but it rocks no other transmission has ever been put in a big 3 truck that has been any tougher

Yeah, the Cummins generates a lot of torsional vibration, and because of this the NV5600 will give off some loud gear rattle if you lay into the accelerator at low RPMs. So what? It's a truck, for Pete's sake.

The NV5600 is heavy, it doesn't shift like a Richmond or Tremec (or even an old Borg-Warner, Muncie or Ford T&C top-loader), and it's noisy. It also very seldom breaks. For what I bought my truck to do (drag a heavy 5th wheel around), it works just fine.

I had the dealer look at the truck, they said that 2,3,5,&6th gears are no good and the trans needs to be replaced. The noise that it makes is, well if you put 40" mud tires on the truck and drove it down the freeway at 70 mph, thats the only way I can tell you how the truck sounds.

Has max HP/torque for the stock G56 with DMF been established yet?

I don't turn up my box past level two yet, but I would still like to plan ahead.

Peter

Could you clarify now, is my G-56 going to be a problem for moderate towing with no enhancements? And if not what options do I have?

the stock G56 clutch does not like the BD with crazy larry setting. found out the hard way. mines back to stock till i get the new SBC con FE for mine.

dumb question but im guessing that you get the flywheel with the clutch because i have not seen any where that shows a seperate flywheel to purchase. please correct me if im wrong and can someone give me a price for the flywheel if it does not come with the clutch?

thank you

Robert

Slightly off topic. Another one of the Duramax work trucks lost the DMF last week. Shakes at idle like a gasser missing spark plugs. That's the second one here with less than 40K to carp out.

I got one on my truck... . a SBC DD and it is pretty aggressive but I love it. I have a feeling that the clutch will hold more power than the input shaft can.

I have had it in for like 5000 miles... . tow a 12k trailer and have had no problems... i also have the upgraded hydraulics... I love the thing... a bit noisy and the pedal sqeals under the pressure when u depress the clutch... the reversing part is a bit interesting at the boat ramp... . :D
