Based on reputation, Tommy got Tim the best deal he could and then had his hands tied ... ... ... ..... why answer the phone 20 times a day to say "it's on hold and DC has released no info"?

The question I have (no flame intended) is why cancel the order and take the refund before you find another truck? It could be released tomorrow and be sold to someone else before you have a chance to reconsider.



As to buying a Ford or Chevy, good luck trying to find one of those with a 6 speed.

I am sure if he was really in need of a truck for his trip he could have worked something out with a local dealer through DC to get him something till his was released. But more focus was used on complaining over the hold issue.

I have spoken with the general sales manager at Fusz Dodge, who is Tom's boss. His name is Steven Kabbaz and he has been far more helpful than Tom who has either not returned my calls in a timely manner (Until I started this crap on TDR, than amazingly my phone rings when I call him) or given me excuses. Steven has proven to me that he has far more experience dealing with customers (20+ years) and has been sympathetic in this situation and attempted to do something about it.



I told Mr. Kabbaz that I would accept any loner truck that would make my trip pulling my trailer until my truck could be delivered. I told them I didn't care if it was a Datsun with an automatic trans, as long as I can have a truck that will pull 10,000 lbs to North Carolina so I can go on my 4 day trip that I planned last September. I told him I seriously didn't care what it was (new, used, old, Chevy, Ford, 2wd, I told them I literally didn't care) They refused. IMO this was the best option out there. I could still pick up my truck that I ordered when it came in, and I'd have a truck so I could make my trip. I figured this was the least they could do after they promised me a truck April 1st, but they didn't deliver and will not loan me a truck to pull my trailer.

Tim, I think what most folks object to is how you have personally been acrimonious ("fly off the handle" for those of you in Rio Linde) toward Tom. He is a saleman, not a DC engineer, who is marketing a product and has been very helpful to a number of folks here abouts (not me personally).



If you will check the threads about the other problems you mention you will find that folks have expressed dissatisfaction with DC, dealerships, or dealership employees who remained nameless. I think if you would lighten up on the personal stuff most folks wouldn't have a problem with you expressing your disappointment.

It's nothing personal against Tom except that he doesn't return my phone calls. Fusz Dodge has done nearly everything they could do in order to find the answers for me, well, the General Sales Manager has. I have even been offered another truck for a similar price to the truck that I was going to buy, but it is Silver and I wanted a dark color so I don't think I'm going to take it. Honestly, I just wish I wasn't in this situation. I just want the truck I ordered and was promised on April 1st. I didn't think that was asking too much in January and I don't think that's asking too much today. SOMEBODY at Chrysler knows how long this crap is going to take.

Tim I hope that the rig in Tn. Tom wrote about fits the bill.

It does, but they want nearly $39,000 for it. I was going to pay less than $34,000 for mine. I can't lose $5,000 because Chrysler is refusing to deliver my truck. I'm sorry but I break my *** for my money and I just can't do it.



I really don't think no matter how I word this on here you guys will ever understand the level of disappointment I have to deal with right now. I ordered a particular truck that was special--if even only to me. There isn't another one like it anywhere in Dodge's inventory nationwide. I ordered it earlier than I thought I had to to assure I'd have it in time. Now I am faced with either buying a truck I truely do not want, or missing out on the trip I've been planning for months and wanting to go on for years. This is a very difficult decision for me and I'm really torn about what to do. I'm sorry to the entire board that after 3 months of waiting, I'm out of patience, but I sincerely hope that someone understands how crappy this is.



If I can't get this used truck I'm going to look at tomorrow, I think I'm going to hold out and buy the truck I ordered from Tom. I guess it's what I really want to have afterall. I'll have to miss my trip which would really suck, but it's better than paying for a truck that I really don't like for the next 2 years and being ****** off every time I look at it.

As for me, I sucked it up and decided I'm gonna buy a service manual and see if I can't retrofit the cursed pedals myself (a bit more than the $120 credit I bet).



Good luck on your decision, but railing against ill fortune will not make it an easier choice.

Well I'm off to the eastern version of Moab, it's called Tellico. I've wanted to go there for years and I am probably not going because I want the truck I ordered, not some crap that someone has on the lot with no leather seats in a light color.



This is just really hard to swallow. I'm forced to choose Tellico or a truck that I don't care for. Ultimately, a truck is a tool, a cloth seated truck that is silver with a CTD will pull just as hard as a blue one, but ultimately it's my money and it's not what I want.

I would remind you that no one (not Tom, not Lou Fusz, not D/C) makes a dime until you take delivery of your truck, so why would anyone (Tom, Fusz, D/C) do anything except to expedite delivery if it was at all possible? Just keep in mind that at times s**t happens and you have to learn to deal with it. How we (you) handle adversity demonstrates your character (or lack of it!).

I understand perfectly why you want the truck you ordered. I've done the same for my last two trucks and have not been disappointed because they are EXACTLY what I wanted instead of some power window, power locks, power mirror, power seat, or power doodaw.



However, on my 04 I had to wait three months for the truck to arrive instead of the six weeks. This meant I was basically stuck at home 40 miles from town, ruined my hunting season, almost lost my salvation by missing church , and almost succumbed from cabin fever.



Fortunately, that's when I discovered TDR and they nursed me through my traumatic experience.



My advice is to suck it up, rent a vehicle, and go to Tellico, be patient and enjoy the trip you have been looking forward to. Aterall, you know what they say ..... adversity happens.

I don't know you and I'm a newcomer to this board. (Not to internet boards in general, because I'm very active on a number of them. )



But I can't bite my tongue any longer. I'm 45 years old and have purchased more vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles) than most sane people would in a lifetime. When a friend heard I was in the market for a CTD, he sent me to Tommy (I live in Nashville; my friend lives in Chicago).



I was skeptical from the very beginning. I told myself, "This price is so good, I'm either going to get screwed with all sorts of 'surprises' when I pick it up or the service/communication along the way will suck because the only way they can make any money is volume. "



To the contrary, the entire buying experience was remarkable. It's almost like a different world--honest, fair, concise, helpful. I even called from a satellite phone in a remote part of Mexico to make final arrangements to fly in on my way back and pick it up. At every stage Tommy did what he promised and everything about the experience was such that I'd send others his way.



I am a management consultant by trade (landed a big contract with Toyota for next week) and I know good service when I see it. Your experience is valid from your perspective, but you've let yourself get worked into a frenzy and you are no longer being objective.



Frankly, I admire Tommy's restraint in the refund process and continuing to do what he can to help you. Think about doing some deep, cleansing breathing. If life always has to "work out the way you think" for you to be happy, it's no longer an adventure. You are not the center of the universe--I am, and there's only room for one of us.

I recently purchased a truck from Tom and all went quite well. Did I get everything I wanted- no. Tom sold the truck I wanted a few days before I made up my mind, so I ended up with a red truck instead of the dark gray I had my heart set on. Tom wasn't able to give me what I wanted for my Lincoln LS for a trade so we drove it home along with the new truck. Oh well, the longer I have the red one the more I like it. I still like the dark gray better but things happen. I wasn't going to spend an extra 5 grand to get the 3500 in gray. He did have a 2500 but my wife had her heart set on a 3500. I can live with that!!! It can still be a win win situation.



I would suggest either borrowing a truck from a friend or rent one and have a great time on your trip. When the truck you ordered is ready swallow your pride, buy it and enjoy it.

Im not dissuaded from buying a new dodge... even with all the hassles and potential problems... . thank goodness that TDR is getting me up quickly on the learning curve and Ill know what to look out for and what to EXPECT.....



I, for one, am real happy DC is holding the trucks until they get the g56 figured out... . it would save me constant hassle of going beck to the dealer if somethings wrong with it...



I feel bad for you guys in the pipeline... but sometimes thats life ... things made by human beings arent perfect

Anyway, I agree with that you should have kept the order placed and just borrowed a truck or had a friend tow you to Tellico. You could have very easily had your dream truck waiting for you when you got home, but not now.

That's not true. I AM sorry that all this had to happen. I AM sorry that I had to go through all this simply to get some answers to my questions, and Tom and I have come to a decision. There have been several breaks in communication between myself and Tom in the last three months. In the end I'm forcing myself to be pleased and I am buying the truck I ordered. I'm not going to Tellico. Yes I'm ****** that I don't get to go... but not ****** enough to stare at a truck that I don't care for, for the next 10 years for 4 days of fun. I don't think this is fair, but I don't think that it's fair to blame Tom for it either (and I never did despite my tone, PM him and ask him yourself if you don't believe me). It sucks that all this had to happen but I'm convinced it's God's way of teaching me patience or something. Either way, I'm tired of this whole thing and it has literally made my blood boil. I can't remember any time in the recent past that I've been so ****** off about something so stupid. I guess Chrysler still refusing to answer any questions is what rubs me the wrong way more so than anything else.

It's not, but that doesn't make it any less aggravating. That said, as I said in an earlier post that you missed:



Tom and I have come to an agreement and I'm picking up my ordered truck whenever it gets there. Whether that's next week, month, or year, I'm just going to wait. I'm going to miss my trip anyway, and I might as well not buy a truck I do not really want--so I'm waiting for the truck Tom ordered for me and that's that.

Tim, I understand your frustration, I had an issue with the truck I originally ordered last year, and my dealer not being able to deliver, even though it was sitting in the port in Baltimore. He lost the sale, and I found another truck I liked at another dealer. That said:



I'm NOT preaching to you. But, when I was 21, (in 1985), I was a senior in college driving a POS hand-me-down 1982 Ford Granada (real hot rod there! ) from my grandmother. I could barely afford to put gas in it, let alone buy an expensive NEW truck to tow "my Jeeps" (plural) to Moab for vacation. Remember, there are alot of Americans your age fighting and dying right now, so that you and I are ABLE to live the lifestyle we want. Just putting things in perspective.



I think you are a standup guy coming on here and apologizing, and it shows maturity. Ya know, take the money you would have spent on Moab, and buy a little 3-4 day package to the Carribbean. Trust me, when you're sitting on that beautiful beach, under a palm tree, looking at the clear blue water, you'll forget all about the truck for a while.



And, when your truck DOES come in, I guarantee you'll be back here extolling its virtues, just like the rest of us.
