I'm looking for recent impressions for the latest and greatest SBC 3250 dd. The holding power universally is great, but what about low rpm backing chatter, pedal down noise and initial engagement?

Anybody had their neoprene noise isolators grenade?

Yehs and nays?

Thanks!:)

I don't have a G56, but I do have the latest 3250 DD bought from FTE Diesel. Ask for Wally. Great service and price.

My DD clutch is much smoother than the Con OFE that I had in my '01 truck. Chatter is non existent. Noise is definitely greater than the OEM setup (even my single mass setup), but thousands of times quieter than the old style or competition dual discs. Three of my close friends have old style dual discs. One is a NV5600 and two are G56 trucks. Mine sounds like a stocker compared to theirs. Initial engagement is smooth, but if you let the pedal up too fast it will jerk your head back. Noise is not a drawback to me. To me, the only cons of this clutch is that it's a little harder to get in gear and you can't shift as fast.

This is the heaviest load I have pulled with my 3250DD and I was able to maneuver and idle up a steep driveway without any drama... not to mention pull hills at the speed limit without any slippage.

I just put that clutch in my 03 with a NV5600. I like it a lot. Engages very smoothly and requires less pedal pressure than the stock clutch. Very little noise, but a little rattle. Nothing to worry about. I do seem to have a little more vibration under 1200 rpm, but it seems to be more load related than rpm related, so I don't think it's the clutch causing it. The exhaust was disconnected, so maybe there's a little stress in the way it was reconnected?

I agree with the cons stated above: one must wait a bit longer to put it into gear as the dual discs have a flywheel effect and it takes longer for the input shaft to stop. And one must shift a little slower. I'm sure my synchros are a little worn from shifting with the old clutch that was not releasing completely all the time.

BAcking under load can be a little grabby, I usually put my TC in 4 low and this problem dissapears. My clutch is an older version and much noiser and passes the engine vibrations through. But I would buy another, this thing is a beast and once you learn to drive it engagement is smooth.
