bellyscraper,

You have a PM.

I'll send the DVD tomorrow or Saturday. The latest version is not much better than the one the year before. I liked some things better in the version I'm sending you. YOu might want to just use it for a year and them buy the latest version. Don't know if you can have someone burn the current version and just use that. It might work. Anyway, you'll have my old one next week.

rb1 with serius+cd changer

I have read threads by others that they indeed attached serius and cd changers to their rb1 systems. I believe they needed to use the connectors for the jeep that worked fine. The cd changer needs to be factory though.

The current shipping version is 05064033AA, which has significantly increased map coverage. In mid-April, there will be another release which is mostly minor fixes.

I also have the Garmin 176C, and agree with you completely. The news is that Garmin is coming out with a 276C that is basically our unit with routing. Power wire from the cigar lighter has a speaker in it. Everything else seems to be the same. About $650 from GPSCITY. COM Won't be out until April though.

I'm looking forward to getting the routing capability of the 276c to replace my 176c, too. The other upgrade it includes is stepping up to a 256-color display from 16-color.

I talked to Barbara at Alpine Customer Service today and she said I have the latest DVD version for the Navigation Radio. My version is 56038642AF. When she found out I was in Texas she said there was an error in this version for Texas and she would send me another DVD without the Texas error. I assume that will be the version jzaremski mentions in the above post.

I'm a little disappointed that I wasn't automatically notified of the update as soon as Alpine found the error. I'd like to have the best possible information for all 48 states.

Check here http://gpsnow.com/gmmap60c.htm for some good prices on hand held units. I got the Garmin iQue 3600 which is a GPS and PDA combined. Holds up to 1 Gig of SD card memory, I got the 256MB, also has the auto kit which includes the dash cradle and lighter plug with speaker. The only thing missing is an external antena which is a $75. 00 extra. Has very clear and detailed voice and text instructions. (computer required for setup)
