This little whiz-bang gadget, it occurs to me, would be a useful tool to settle disputes on dyno figures.

The only catch is having an accurate weight of the vehicle, to input into the G-Tech. That's easy enough to get, witnesses and and a printout with the weight amount on it would be an excellent way to put in a cork in:-{}

I've personally found that my own G-Tech reads 6 HP higher than the Mustang dyno at Scheid Diesel in Terre Haute , IN, with those results observed on two separate Cummins Rams. That's close enough.

Of course, there will always be the kind of people around to find excuses other than dyno numbers, to take cheap shots at other TDR members. :rolleyes:

I think it's a great tool, my only problem was finding a flat stretch of road long enough for testing. Not doubt it would be useful in seeing how your truck progresses, with each HP mod, once you have a baseline established with the G-Tech. Reminds me that I loaned my to a friend and have to get it back :rolleyes: .

I have found that the G-Tech can be used successfully to obtain torque curve estimates. I start a hp test and accelerate very slowly to 4th gear and the rpm I want to test. Then I apply both the brakes and accelerator keeping the rpm constant (as possible) when the accelerator has been floored long enough for the boost to rise properly, I release the brake and then a second later release the accelerator. When I slow back down the max hp indicated is for the rpm range after the brake release. The hp and rpm (mid) are then used to calculate the torque. It seems to work really well and avoids the underestimation of torque at lower rpms reported by inertial dynos. (Let your brakes cool a bit between data points).

If the user of the G-Tech uses it properly it is great.

there are some factors that make big difference...

level ground

accurate vehicle weight

Wind. . head or tail

So assuming they are honest and don't overstate their weight (heavier weight means more power to achieve same acceleration), they use a very level road, and average several runs throwing out the high and low. . yes, you are right.

but now the numbers are dependent on the driver. . and nobody trusts them any way;):p:D

Like I said above, Kendrick, witnesses, that's what will do the trick. Witnesses at the scales, witnesses in the truck, or an impartial third party to input & set the G-Tech.
