The Amsoil (MTF) Manual Syncromesh Transmission Fluid has a Viscosity of 9. 6 cSt@100 C.

which is on the lower side of the 30 GRADE fluids. 30 Grade fluids range between 9. 3 cSt@100 C. and <12. 5 cSt@100 C. so it is considered a 30 grade fluid and does meet the Chrysler MS-9334 and MS-9417 specifications.

Amsoilman,

Thank you for the above info.

For comparison, could you tell me what the viscosity is of Amsoil Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF?

I take it that by Amsoil MTF meeting Chryler MS-9334 & MS-9417 it is safe to use in the G-56 trans but in laymans terms what does MS-9334 & MS-9417 actully mean?

Thank you,

SB

The Amsoil MULTI-VISCOSITY ATF has a Viscosity of 7. 6 cSt@100 C. which i is considered a 20 GRADE fluid, as it is pretty much in the middle of the 20 GRADE fluids, which is MIN. 5. 6 cSt@100 C. and MAXIMUM <9. 3 cSt@100 C.

The MS numbers are basically Chryslers Material Standards, and the numbers are a requirement.

I queried the forums about putting synchromesh oil in the transfer case and comments were that it might be too thick when cold for the oil pump in the case.

For what its worth I ran RP SynchroMax for almost 150k, and have been running RedLine MTL for the past 60k with a combined total of 260k on the clock.

Synchromesh fluids work fine in the transfercase, regardless of weather. Remember most of, if not all, the boutique oils are synthetic and not greatly affected by temperature extremes.
