I keep reading about the 17mm allen head on the drain plug. I was going to order one from Geno's and it said it was for the NV5600 and i checked on the 14mm and it said it was for the G56. I've never heard anyone say anything about the 14mm. Does anyone know for sure? I really dont want to get the wrong one and have to go order another one. Thanks guys!!!!

14mm is pretty close to a 9/16" allen key. see if you have one of those kicking around. 17mm is for the nv5600 fill plug, i don't think it is for the g56 though. .

it is a 14mm allen head socket. for the drain and fill on the g56

I'm confused. Is this the boy side or the girl side? Wouldn't a 14mm allen head socket be the same as a 14mm hex socket for standard bolts?

a 14mm allen hex head would be like a "male fitting", while the hex socket would be like the "female fitting", make sense??

I understand that part, but which one does a person need to remove the plug on a G56?

One might ask, "why do you care since you have an NV5600?". Reason is because I may choose to add this info to my webpage for the G56 folks.

male side. sorry for the confusion. i always say socket due to the fact that i dont use individual hand allen keys.

Just take a 14mm hex head bolt weld a handle (or use vice grips) on the threads and use the head of the bolt on the drain plug. . cheap!! Works on my NV5600 only 17mm

I don't weld (I'm a wire wennie), but accomplish the same thing by double nutting a bolt. Works really well and allows you to use a torque wrench when you put it back in if you want to.

jfortune - a word of caution with doing what you said, i know RobertP tried the same thing on his truck, and actually stripped the head of the bolt off, you need a hardend tool, like a 14mm allen head or allen head socket, to get the plug off, the factory must have used some kind of thread locker, we tried several bolts, none of them worked, this may not be the same case as with your truck, but we ran into that problem with his, just thought i would put that out.
