06 CTD 2500 6 speed. How is the best way to drain oil. My Chilton Manuel says to pull bottom bottom bolt from PTO cover but no luck on either side. Also what kind of bolt heads are they using on the PTO covers? I do not have a wrench that fits them properly. Thanks for any replies. Ray

I personally was ready was ready to change the oil in my NV3550 in my jeep when I realized it had a huge allen sized drain plug. not wanting to run back to the parts store to get the proper tool I simply found a bolt head that fit the drain plug size and welded a nut to the threaded end and used the bolt with welded nut as a adapter wrench for the drain plug. you could do the same or you could tighten 2 nuts together on the bolt and use that to get the drain plug off. But then again you could always just go ahead and buy the correct allen and have it when you need it for the next time like I did the next time I changed the oil.

Don't forget that pipe threads with pipe threads you don't have to thread things all the way in. Pipe threads are different from normal thread cuz they are tapered. and they self seal without being run all the way in. DON'T tighten too tight! Happy wrenchings
