I just read through the last 8 pages of comments on this problem. All of you seem to aware of the pressure plate issue but I see no discussion on the rear bearing. I am told that this is really the main issue. Anybody heard anything along those lines? Tim, I am afraid you may wait a long time for that rig from Tommeygun as there is the distinct possibility all these rigs will go to auction without warranty. DC just announced the closing of all '05 orders effective 4/13 at 11 Pacific time. That could mean '06 orders will be taken very soon.

Rick, thanks for keeping our membership up to date on this.

If they do go to auction, sounds like people could get some good deals, on what could be a collector's item. Gotta look on the bright side.

How solid is the information re internal bearing problems?

I wonder about that anyway since the G 56 is in use in thousands of

deliverytrucks without so much as any problem over here.

Wouldnt that point towards the dual mass flywheel as the more likely culprit?

Yes it would! However, my info comes from insiders at DC. Who knows if they are pulling my leg or not. Also, we have sold some 400-500 of these and only 5 or so have failed. (although I have 2 more showing signs). This makes me wonder if there is a real problem at all or if some other game is afoot.

Historically when they had the bad primer problem, 135 of my trucks went to auction! Historically when they had the freeze plug problem, I lost another 75 to auction. There are other instances but I don't type that fast nor is there room. This is not a new concept!

My thinking precisely, Rick.

DC installs them in 7. 5 ton trucks (metric tons, like 16. 500 # GVW) over here,

doing delivery work downtown and light duty interstate hauling.

Hundreds or thousands of shifts in downtown driving here daily,

and running for quite a while now.

I could foresee problems in heavy hauling, since DC goes one step up

transwise for truck - trailer combos.

An addendum to the last note. Out of the 250 units at Spokane, WA railhead, 112 are mine! I spoke to Steve down there and apparently he had misshipped 8 units to another dealer. DC came down hard on him and told him to go get those units posthaste! I do not pretend to know it all, just passing on what I hear and maybe better minds than mine can make sense of it. My biggest question is why DC is still saying there is no problem when they will not deliver. Makes the dealers look real bad!

Not to hijack, but this is interesting. Several of us on here with the early-build 04. 5s had freeze plug Rapid Repsonse Recall done, and none of us, nor our dealers had ever heard of any actually failing. You're saying that you lost 75? Were these trucks actually tested, or they just went automatically?

Even when they do tell us the "real reason"..... can we believe them? I will just report what i hear that feels solid and let you guys do the speculation from now on. I have only 16 or so 6-speeds (G56's) left so pickings are slim so I'm hoping the '06 orders open soon

OK, now back to your regularly scheduled thread and Tims's questions! :-laf

They were actually tested. You open the hood, pop the radiator cap, put a pressure gage on and pump some pressure in. Then you start the engine and put the pedal to the floor for 2 solid minutes. Then you checked to see if there were leaks. Those that did went bye bye! Bye the way, it was not pleasant doing this unless you like the sound of engines reved to the max... 15 at a time!
