When you going to get around to this task? Several of us are waiting!

NOTE: run a couple tanks and figure out the MPG with pen and paper before and after the change. I see post about 20mpg; My Overhead display shows +20 all the time, but when I figure it out with paper its around 18

I also hope you make the change during the summer. If you did it in the fall there is a chance winter diesel might come out the same time and mess up the results ;)

Still waiting for the gears to be delivered, they did charge my credit card so I'm hoping it has shipped.

G-56

I'm running Smarty's standard program on #1 & #3,driving very conservatively, and carrying my camper around constantly. My corrected via Smarty and GPS mileage is 14. 3 mpg. I've got 285-70-17 tires inflated to 75psi. My overhead is showing 16-16. 3 when I fill it up. 8oz. of Stanadyne everytime also. This is 60-40 mixed highway-city driving. The truck has 2600 miles on it.

According to thr TDR and othrs, the G56 is a better trans than the any of the previous manuals BUT it comes with a dual mass flywheel/clutch. My clutch lasted to 104k of heavy towing. I now have a South Bend Clutch. I like the G56 fine. Be aware that the dealers only inflate the tires to about 40lbs so the test ride is nice. My 2wd rides good and the seat is comfortable for the first 6 hours. Empty I get 22mpg or better at 65mph. My tires, Firestone Transforce, are at 70lbs and I have a lot of extra weight. RV toolbox,B&W 5th wheel and 115 gal fuel tank and a headache rack. Good luck with your purchase. Grady

Hi, My 06 G56 DRW LB 4X4 RAM driven conservativly has an all time average of 17. 8 MPG, over the last 12787 miles. This truck has 106K on it presently and I've only added (besides gauges) a drop in Amsoil air filter and synthetic oils throughout and a Smarty which I've left on level one (until I change my clutch, it'll slip under power on one now). I always hand calculate and fill to the top (patience required). I stay at 60-65 on multi-lanes and drive the speed limit in town & country roads. The overhead has shown as much as 26MPG (that tank was calculated out to 20. 4MPG in reality. Wonder if anyone has the programming smarts to get the overhead to match reality. It isn't the smarty that made it wrong, it was just as optomistic before I got it. ).

My 04' had an automatic and I hated it. Traded for the 06' with a manual, this truck is a towing machine. The overhead consistantly reads 2 to 3 mpg high. I use these numbers when bragging to chevy and ford owners. :-laf Truck has 14,500 miles on it now. On the 1,130 mile trip to Florida, pulling a 15,000 lb fifth wheel camper, hand calculated average was 10. 4 mpg. Return trip without the camper was 17. 8 mpg average. All interstate speeds both ways. If I behave myself on 2 lanes and drive 55, I can get 20 mpg driving empty. Overall average works out to be 16. 8 mpg. I'm happy with that when I compare it to what my buddies get in their other brand trucks.

What would you do?

I see great mileage from similar vehicles so it gets me a little miffed with what I'm about to tell you. I bought my '06 Ram 3500 new. Since the first day, I only get 12/13 hwy EMPTY and 9/10 city. I've had it back three times for road testing and they get the same mpg. What can I do? I've asked for a computer flashing, but they said it doesn't need it. Thoughts?
