Attention: TDR Forum Junkies difficult reverse shifting for 5600
I have an 01 with about 130000 miles on it, it has always been tough to get in reverse, even when it was new. Seems like you have to wait a couple of seconds before pushing it directly in reverse. Lately the transfer case has been jumping out of gear so I had to replace the shifting fork in the transfer case. I am not sure how it relates but I immediatly noticed how much easier the trans shifted into reverse. My production manager also drives this truck alot and he agrees, it is significantly easier to shift now, both forwards and reverse. I did put synthetic fluid in the transfer case but did not touch the transmission. Call me crazy but I am positive of the difference.
