so the rubber came apart from the frame on my G56 shifter. I destroyed the knob trying to pry the cap off to get to the nut. anyone have any tricks out there? I tried drilling a 1/8 hole in it then threading in a screw then pulling it straight up but it just ripped the screw out. maybe it was glued in when my clutch went in. also wondering the best wat to reattach the rubber to the frame when I get the knob off.

where is the best place to get a srt 10 shift knob? any part numbers?

thanks for the help!

A nice warm day helps. Softens the rubber on the knob so you can slip a small screwdriver in there to pry the cap out. Stretches the rubber a bit but it seems to return to its original shap after a while.
I replaced my boot with a cv axle boot. Much more durable than stock boot. I don't remember the part number or manufacturer. Do an Internet search and you will find it. It is a much cheaper than dealer part and available at neighborhood parts stores.

Or, try the Dorman 614-002. It's probably available locally.

Looked at the Dorman today. Didn't like how the big end was so much bigger than the tower.

Went to Napa and got a 686-1175 CV Boot kit. Perfect fit. The big end requires a small pull to get on the tower and the small end fits the shifter nicely I did run clamps on both end but I don't really think you need it.. Looks like it was made to replace the stock boot.
