I am a relatively new member of TDR and have got some great ideas and find it invaluable when researching new mods. I installed my Banks Powerpack System before I found TDR - as I research through the posts here I ussually find that Banks doesn't get much respect and many members think it's overpriced.

I am going on record saying I love my Banks System and would buy it again. Banks does not advise any other mods with their system so if you are thinking about making a hobby of modifying your truck maybe Banks isn't the right choice for you - for me I wanted one system and liked the engineering of this one.

I have been enjoying my truck so much more with the Banks stuff in it - I'm still trying to find the bad and only find it performing strongly with very little compromise from the stock configuration. The system does require a souped up transmission - Expect it.

This post was just for me - I felt like I wasn't sticking up for a freind

I'm glad that you enjoy it! Remember, with your Banks Powerpack, it's yourself that you want to impress and not other's. :D

No seriously, as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I happen to be one of the people that think it's overpriced also, but hey... .

Unfortunately, maybe you should be ready with your flame suit on, so to speak. ;) Lot of opinions floating around on here! :-laf Lot's of experiences with their performance too!

Flame On!!!!! :-laf :p

As you can see from my sig. I have some Banks equipment also. The fit & finish on the parts was excellent. The exhaust barly tarnished in last snow seasons salt. I have nothing but praise for the Banks Brake. I did shop around & the prices I got were competative. I'm very happy wiath my Banks equipment but I chose to go a different rout to increase my fueling. Isn't it great we have so many options?

No one really said that Banks sells sub-standard equipment. You just have to spend a huge amount of money to get it. :-{} There are more options than ever before. I have two friends that I work with both with full Banks power upgrades. Both are very happy. Both very broke, but happy. :-laf

I spent around $1830 for my Powerpack - since my truck has the HY35 the kit came without the 'Quickturbo' exhaust housing and in it's place is a 'wastegate actuator modification kit', which is just a small orifice threaded into the actuator hard line to build more boost. I build about 35-40 pounds at WOT.

As far as value -

Stainless Exhaust - worth $600?

Fuel Box - another $600?

High Ram - $200?

Guages - $100?

K&N w/ cleaning kit - $75? - (I don't like it and have ordered RFI cone)

Wastgate kit - $25?

And of course the 'who's your daddy' 5" tailpipe - $230

See it balances out--

For me the extra $200 or so I can't find could be the value in R&D of the product and Support.

I like my Banks stuff. Got credit, 200$ + for gauges and 60$ for the air filter since I had Diprocol and an AFE filter already. Installed easily and I got the advertised increase in HP and torque. Right at 300HP and 745 lb ft to the rear wheels. Their ebrake works very well and also made the exhaust noise in cab very quiet.

An issue that had some members riled up a couple of years ago was the apparent implication in the Banks literature that their performance equipment wouldn't void the powertrain warranty. There were a couple of anecdotes of people who were told by their dealers that the warranty was void due to the engine power increase and when they sought recourse through Banks, were simply referred to the Magnusson-Moss document. I'm wondering if their literature has changed since then?

As far as their products, they are well designed and manufactured - but just weren't potent enough for me.

As per my signature I have the Banks Power Pack and have had no problems to date with the performance of the upgrades. I have added the RV275 injectors and the fuel milage went up on the highway as compared to the stock injectors. It may cost a little more but trouble free performance gives me peace of mind.

Thats just my two cents of it.

I for one am a firm believer in Banks' products. Their customer service has been outstanding. I originally purchased my Bank's mod's for my '99 CTD but had traded in on a 2001. 5 HO before parts arrived. With no questions asked, they resent me the proper kit for my 01. 5 and I have experimented with various Big Hoss modules since their introduction. All with great technical advice from their people. I did it the Johnny Cash way - ONE PIECE AT A TIME- and couldn't be more pleased. The customer service and advice you recieve more than makes up for any "pricey issues".
