AFE Megacannon Questions

I think if you dig deeper in the archives you will find most of the questions were answered in other threads by some of Banks employees round about the same time.

I called for info on the HiRam also and was told that I would have to buy the complete package or not at all. Was also told that it is not made for the '01 year. Once it was apparent that I didn't want the package, the rep was finished talking. Why waste both of our time?:confused:

Oly,

Mike at Bully Dog makes some great products for our trucks, I have his High Ram and did not have to purchase another kit to get it. The intake comes with gaskets, sealing washers, loctite and studs to replace our stock bolts. Bully Dog is in Aberdeen, ID, and they call their product "Big Air Intake". I'm happy :) :), Larry

Roger, could you tell us more about the "Big Air Intake"? I don't see anything on Doug's website about it. Is this different than Bank's High Ram?

Gotta toss in my 2 pennies here. I drive an 01 HO 6 spd. and it's STOCK!!

It's stock because I believe that no matter what you do to increase the power output, you also compromise the reliability of the motor somewhat, period. We all know this, right? Now Banks sells performance upgrades, and who in the heck is so naive (sp?) that they think those parts shouldn't void the warranty, I don't care what Banks company says. On Chrysler's end, why would anyone expect them to pick up the tab for a burned up transmission on a truck that just added 100 HP and competes in truck pulls for example? Geez, put yourself in their shoes for a second and think about it.

I'm just amazed at all the technical knowledge that some of you guys on here have but also a little blown away by some attitudes of not taking responsibility.

Anyone else agree with this?

I do... I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION. Been that way from day one. Only took my truck to the dealer for an A/C fix under warranty and for recalls. Bombed my truck before factory warranty expired... never cared what DC did... my truck did not see the inside of their shop for engine and trans stuff.

I think the main issue is the misleading of customer who think using a Banks upgrade will not void the warranty. Banks should not make such claims. Just how many Dodge dealers do you think would do warranty work if you had a Banks kit on it?

Yes, I know I'm my own warranty station.

At least two that I know of, HB Dodge (who also sells and installs Banks) And I also had warranty work done at McPeek Dodge. BOTH times were done with the Banks Power Pak installed. This issue is old, boring and tiresome and I wish everyone could just

GET OVER IT ALREADY!! :-{}

Vaughn,

The Big Air Intake looks very much like the High Ram. I did my first sled pull with it on Saturday night and (according to the recording feature of the Blue Chip FMS) boost was slightly down and egt was substantially lower. Maybe a fluke but comparing the stock intake to the Bully Dog BAI the engine would have to have less air restriction. Most testing tonight... . :D :D.

The big intake from Banks does nothing for performance. 777 mechanic had his one and his truck dyno'd 12-15 HP LESS with it on. He promptly removed to POS and sold it.
