Gallons per cubic foot????

I have been playing with the idea of moving my toolbox back closer to the wheelwells. Then, I could have a custom fuel tank made to fill the space between the toolbox and front of the bed.

Once I decide how much I can move the toolbox back without getting tangled in the fifthwheel hitch, I can estimate how many cubic feet my tank would hold. I am trying to decide if the tank would hold enough fuel to be worth having it made.

Does anyone know how many cubic feet a gallon of diesel is? Does this even make sense?

Length (in inches) x Width (in inches) x Height (in inches) / 231 will give you the gallons in a given area.
Or 1 gallon = 0. 1339 cubic foot

In simpler terms, it's about 7. 5 gal per cubic foot.

Lotsa guy don't know that simply typing in "gallons per cubic foot" up in that Yahoo or google search space at the top of their screen - or whatever search engine their PC is loaded with - will give them the answer to that, and pretty much any reasonable question that needs an answer...

1 gal diesel = 7. 1 lbs

1 gal gasoline = 6. 2 lbs

1 gal water = 8. 34 lbs

I have seen a box where the bottom half is a fuel tank and upper half is a tool box. I have no idea where you can get one, but I'm sure one could do a search on the web.

Gary. . yes, I could have Googled it, but Google does not have the personality you guys do! Lots of times I have asked questions here, and gotten way more useful info than just the answer to my question. Somebody always says I did mine this way, or think about this thingy... ...

Grizzly... ... Yes, I have looked at those types of boxes, but my toolbox is barely big enough as it. No way I could get by with half that capacity. I should add that we are full-timers in a fifth-wheel, so the toolbox also doubles as a storage shed
