Good Homeowner Type Chainsaw

I have looked at about every concrete coating for my shop floor, from Muscle gloss to just stain. Prices from $300. 00 to $1200 in the epoxy. Has anyone used any of the epoxy floor coatings and how well do they hold up? I am looking hard at a one part garage floor epoxy from Behr right now that with prep and primer would be in the $300 range. Toooo many options... :D

I just painted my floor with the behr setup. The only thing I regret was using the non slip additive, it is to rough for me. I am going to get a couple more gallons and recoat most of the garage, hopefully it will turn out a little less rough.

I can't say anything about longevity, it's only been on for a week, but it seemed to adhere pretty good. The prep work involved was the hardest part, and from what I hear, the most important part. It took a lot of water to completely flush all the acid off, but I think a couple of days of hard work are justified to make cleaning up easier down the road.

We have used a variety of paints/coatings on the fire station bay floor.

If you wear hard soled boots, use the non slip stuff. Ditto if the floors are periodically wet. I would use it regardless.

Chains will destroy the finish regardless of what their advertising says.

Adhesion to the floor has been an perinial problem. The last wonderpaint at the old Station 1 would peel up in multi-square foot chunks.

My floor is new

This is a brand new floor, so cleaning will not be too bad. But the etching is important anyway and would like to make it last as long as possible. Now is the time before I start moving stuff into the shop and making benches, storage, ect.

I thought the same thing;) . I'm sure it would be even more work on a floor with years of use, but it was pretty tough making sure the cement was perfectly clean on my new floor.

Interesting comment on U-Coat-It, I believed the hype, but I wasn't going to pay $800 for it.

Guys Mine is getting done on the 12th of august!

It's coming from Home Depot's in home services and I am going with the ultra setup. It's pricey indeed but I am Sick and tired of floor coatings coming up! It's Rust Oleums 4 part deal. The kicker is that they come out and the floor is mechanicly abraded (Allmost like a floor buffing bead blaster) and preped then laid down in a procees over the next two days. Kinda cool. I looked at the

U-Coat-It deal buuut I wanted a warrantee (5 year unconditional and 5 year material only on top) and this deal looks to be the same if not even a bit more involved in the install.

I like the idea of mechanically prepping the surface. The acid process was a pain in the rear, but I always take the hard road if it can save me a few dollars:( .

go thru the option list and select other options and garage floor is the one.

I went with it for the fact that the floor is somewhat virgin except for the seccond half of the shop that was once carpeted. Once I found out that they will blast the floor I was hooked. I went with the ultra which is about 3 bucks a square foot. any color combo and is warranteed. I will take pics of the before during and after process if I can.

Well

Well the contractor that did my shop did a grinding on my floor due to a couple of high spots, I am wondering if I really have to go with the acid etch and prep? They did the whole floor...

Whoops!!

My floor felt like 400 grit after the acid. I'm certainly no expert, but I would think if you're floor was that rough, you wouldn't need to make it any rougher.

StonHard is what we use in our flight hangar. I have also use it in my basement. Five years and no complaints.

It is more expensive than your Home Depot type products but well worth the investment.
