Garbage Bag Hook?????

On my 03 Ram 3500 QC SRW there is a hook on the dash just to the right and down alittle of the heater controls. Does anyone know what this is for? Is it for a trash bag, and does dodge offer any accessories that go on this hook? I am just curious if there is a specific function of this hook. Thanks

Yes, its for a plastic trash bag. I think its one of the best ideas ever. If you travel with little kids and the better half, that hook on the dash will keep your interior from being covered in granola bar wrappers, chewed gum, gummie bears, empty water bottles, etc. Then when you stop for fuel, you simply drop the whole thing in the trash.



I think one of the minivan designers must of helped with that feature, but that person is a genius. Its also at the proper height, so the throw away bad hangs real nicely...

If you check out the new Freightliner Cascadia, it has a similar hook, only its even nicer. It folds out of the way when not in use.

Not sure if Dodge sells acc. for that hook but I am sure if your wife is like mine she has MANY that already fit. Probably changes them along with her outfit.

They took it away in '06 though The newer interiors do not have that handy feature anymore, and I miss it. That was a great place for a bag!

Thanks guys, but I would think that dodge or some company would offer a reuseable bag to put on the hook. Anyone have a good source for something like this, that fits nice and also looks stock? Thanks Again

I don't know about the "looks stock", but here in CA, when you go into the AAA office to pick up maps, they put them in a small white bag that has a hole and a flap which works perfectly for me. I ask them for about 6 of them every few months or so and they don't seem to mind giving them to me, at least at the office I go to. You don't HAVE to throw them out every time ... I just empty mine out until it's too gross to reuse.

'[Hot and Sour' soup from the local Chinese resteraunt comes in a quart styrafoam container set in a plastic bag. Suspended from the hook, it travels well without spilling!

I used to hang a bag off there... until on one of my all night hauls, I was yakking on the radio and wondered WTH was burning! Turns out the bag was starting to melt up against the linear! Nowadays you will find a little tree air freshener hanging there.

We use the hook on our 05 on all trips. My wife uses WalMart plastic bags. Works great.

Best thing I heard that hook referred to by a TDR member and when he said it I new exactly what he was referring to. He called it a panty hook
