I just replaced the hose on my old webber propane bbq that goes from the frame to the propane bottle. Everything works fine.

Here is a question I have. In the store, the replacement hose was right in with the other propane BBQ parts. As I was getting ready to throw away the packaging, I noticed an instruction sheet. It says that this hose is for a gas cooker. Do not use with a BBQ. As I said, everything fits right up. The hose is even armored ( the original was rubber). Can anyone think of a reason that there could be a problem with this new hose ? Any propane experts out there ?

Thanks

I am not a propane expert. But I did do a lot of design work with hose assemblies and I do know that some hose material is not compatible with all types of media that will flow through them.

Propane and nature gas may have different chemical properties that will affect the hose material. This may cause the hose material to deteriorate and cause a hose failure. Another problem could be the gas and or propane could permeate through the hose liner and cause a fire.

I would replace this hose with the correct hose material that is compatible with propane.

I finally found the "expert" at the store who said this hose is fine. The only diff is that the new hose has an adjustable regulator. Same ID as the old hose, and rated for propane. I do like the ability to turn the regulator up just a bit so it burns just a bit hotter. I dont think the original burned quite hot enough.
