gas, diesel in China ?

I read an interesting article in the newspaper this morning. It said that gas and diesel in China is selling for about $2. 60 (?)/gal right now (HEAVYLY subsidized) But, after the Olympics this summer, it will no longer be subsidized, and that they will be paying up the nose, just like us. If that happens, I wonder what the world outcome will be.

They are going to plant corn and Ethanol will solve all of their problems.

Well, if all of a sudden all of those new suv drivers have to start paying $6/gal, maybe that will reduce world oil consumption for a while and help us here.
