I am at an RV park talking to a Dodge owner 03 who thinks he put gas into the tank. Doesn't know really how much he might have put in but anywhere from a quarter tank to a third. But he has driven it, he thinks about 500 miles, and has already put in a new injector.

He is rather curious as to what the damage to the engine might be at the present time and what further damage might manifest itself in the future. SO folks, what do you all have to say.

So help me understand correctly. 1/3 to 1/4 tank of gass added then driven 500 miles and put an injector in? Was the injector put in during the time of gas in tank?

Lets assume that injector was long in the past. If he drove it and had no drivability or noise issues for 500 miles, he should be OK. Then again a full tank of #2 diesel and a can of his favorite diesel lube would make him feel better.

Damage issues in the future, could include but are not limited to a new injection system or a motor. Not likely though. What do others think?

I believe he should have a sample of the fuel analyzed to see how much gasoline is in the tank. If it's too much, have the tank drained and injectors cleaned.

It's a no brainier.

It's been my experience that you will know right away if you put gas in the tank. When an employee did it to a work truck, a 24v, it drove real bad out of the gas station and he knew right away what he did.

The most gas I've put in my '98 is 6 gallons on a fillup, mixed with about 50% veggie oil. Didn't cause any noticeable difference in drivability compared to straight diesel, just a bit quieter.
