I use this forum because it is probably the most read. This concerns the brief note in Jim Anderson's column in the last TDR regarding gas in Diesel. I had a problem similar to that mentioned and am having trouble discovering the way gas got into my tank. If the person mentioned in that note reads this, I would appreciate hearing from her/him by Email at -- email address removed --. Thanks

There is only one way gas could get in there. Some one put it in your tank.

Perhaps a dumb station attendant, or someone who wanted to do some mischief, or maybe... the unthinkable... you did it without noticing!

I always smell the nozzle before I pump even if it says "Diesel". The nose knows!

It could have been premixed in the underground tank by mistake. .

Go back to where you bought it and buy some in a new container and mark and hold it for evidence.

Document the sample!

That isn't going to do any good at all without fully documented evidence stamps, video, sealed and marked container, etc...

and even at that, the evidence will have to held by an impartial party until it is needed. maybe an attorney friend?

I've heard of some guys mixing a small amount of gas in with the diesel. They claim it makes the fuel burn better. I guess they want to make it sound like adding NOS or propane. I didn't really put much stock in it when I heard it.

a caveat on gasolene in diesel. it washes down the cylinder walls removing the lubrication from the rings. not too good of an idea for a super high compression engine like a diesel.
