Gas milage

I have a 2006 4X4 Dodge Dually with Cummins and automatic (stock). I would like to find out what kind if fuel milage others get.

mine gets 12. 7 town/freeway about 50% both. But my speedo is also 13MPH off on the slow side :-laf

I average 11. 5 with 10,000-12,000# over a 6,000-10,000 mile trip. I don't just calculate 1 tank and call it done. I have had a tank or 2 go into the 9's while headed west through the rockies, but I've had tanks go into the 14's headed east on the plains. Those are extremes bases on terrain and head/tail winds. I always look at the average per trip.

If you are using the overhead for the mileage info, it won't be correct. The Banks or any other box fools your computer into thinking your getting better mileage. Hand calculated #'s are more on the money.



On a 60 mile trip with a hefty tailwind, my overhead was showing 28 mpg. I wish that was right! My average on my 03 4x4 is about 19 highway. That's up by 1-1 1/2 from using the 2 stroke addition. .

I agree with the others - if this is from the overhead it's not right. If it's hand-calculated and it's correct you probably have the single most fuel efficient dually truck on Earth.

17 average last several (monthly) fillups. 2WD LWB 2500 ST running empty. Best ever 21. 5 average during a LONG commute early this year. 14 to 15 pulling 31' Airstream @ 70 mph in overdrive. Oddly, the same at 63 mph in third in north Georgia hills.

only ford guys get that kind of mpg's!

same but with 6x12 tandem interstate with about 4k. overhead is about 1/2 mpg off. its always been close to hand calc so i use it to monitor my right foot and try to lighten up acordingly. driving like an old lady ive gained about 1. 5 mpg.

15-16 in town, 17 or so on the highway @ 75, 11 pulling our 14k fifth wheel at 65-70.



Truck has about 65,000 miles on it now.

11. 0 pulling 15,000 lb. triple axle fifth wheel @ 60-65 mph. Unloaded 16. 5 to 18. 0 staying around 60-65. If over 70 mph - 14. 0 average. Truck is 05 48RE 3. 73 w/36,000 miles on the clock. Overall with some highway and mostly in-town I average 13. 5 mpg. I had a 03 dually w/4. 10 and 48RE - averaged slightly less - maybe 1 to 1. 5 mpg.

Same here.

- 14 mpg empty in the city.

- 17 to 19 mpg empty on the highway (70-85 mph).

- 10 mpg with a 10,000lb 28' enclosed race car trailer @ 75 mph.

- 14. 5 mpg with 5,500lb 18' open trailer @ 75 mph.

I get around 20 in town and highway mixed and around 11 to 12 pulling with the truck in my signature. My average for the year was 18. 6 calculated. I've attached the file with my data for all to see.

17+ on commute of 60% freeway at 65-72 mph. I drive easy-no hot rodding much at all. Truck has 15k on the ODO. At 600 miles i went on a 3700 mile round trip from San Diego to Topeka and back towing a low profile enclosed trailer and had 3 guys with me.

All-up weight was about 15k and we drove on cruise at 73-75mph most of the way and got 11. 9 for thewhole trip, hand calculated. After the trip to kansas the commute mileage went up about 1. 5mpg from what it was before (15. 7 or so).
