The intake temp sensor is a good thing to change and see what happens, winter fuel kills mileage. Let's see what the caliper change does and go from there, my next thing would be the IAT.

Go to your local Dodge dealer and get an IAT, intake air temperature sensor, it should cost between $25-35 and will increase your mileage. Also if you don't have stock tire size make sure you correct for that. Here is the MOPAR part number: 05014197AA, this is the only part I've found that tends to be cheaper at the dealers.

Wish I could have found one for this price :{ :(

Got mine from Local Dodge Dealer and had to pay $65. 00

now getting 13 mpg mixed driving! No codes have come back yet!

I have done the fuel filter, sticky rear caliper and oil and filter! Might have an issue with the tcc unlocking at the wrong time on highway travel! This could be robbing my economy!

Many years ago I recall reading that Chrysler was claiming a 3% increase in fuel economy with the lock up torque converter on gas engines. I don't think this is your fuel economy problem.

Best I ever got (once highway empty) on my '02 is 17 mpg. I typically get 13 to 15 mpg. My previous truck '00 2500 6spd 4x4 lb, qc got 17 mpg typically.

I figure I might get 16 or 17 if I was easier on acceleration and didn't go over 65mph. I believe the 4. 10s kill my mileage as these engines love 1900 to 2200 rpm and I'm usually around 2,400 to 2,500rpm.

Thanks, I will call the dealer in the morning for the cost on the IAT, if it is not sillyI will get one, otherwise I will see if I can read its output on a scanner and see if it looks faulty or erratic! I am seeing 13-13. 5 with mixed driving. I wish I could get that 15 city and 20 highway my buddy gets!

Some people have had pretty good luck with just taking the IAT out and cleaning it, I have tried that and have not seen too much difference. I have changed mine a few times and always seem to get a pretty good increase. If you do a search for IAT and the member Marco you will find some good info.

my friends truck has no mods at all. there are a couple small things but all should be in my favor! I have the 3. 55 gears he has the 4. 10 gears. I have the 235s and he has the ? something a little smaller! I am going to go search for the IAT threads and check that route! I am looking for 2. 5 mpg increase! Just to get were my buddy is!

I need this truck to give me my mileage! I drive the wheels off of my vehicles and am using this one truck to do everything! If the miles match or exceed my friends I can dump my extra car! Thanks to everyone for the help!

I am seeing 13. 3 mpg mixed driving! I pulled the IAT and it looked spotless,

I cleaned it anyway. no change. the deale rwas $27 roughly so I will call them and order it! Enough people have had good luck there so It is worth the $27. thanks for all the help! I'll let you know if it helps! :)

OK new IAT installed!

The old one looked like new! The new one is giving me at least 14. 75 mpg and that was the first fill up with only about 60 miles since IAT and 300 before it!

My overhead computer is also indicating 15. 1-15. 5 now! It was accurate before the Iat but we will need to drive some more before I will know!

I will look at the Map sensor next as that was suggested by some also!

You guys were right on target with the Iat! It only cost me about $27. so it will pay for itself in just a few tanks!

Thanks for all the help

well after some more driving my new found gains have settled down to 14 mpg. I am still looking to match my friends truck at 15. 5 city and 20 highway! I even seem to get 14-15 on the highway! With my highway gears I figure I should do my best there! I pulled the map and cleaned it but saw no change! any more thoughts would be great! and thanks for all the help this far! :D

I'm in the norm here from what I have read.

15 to 16 on the highway over 75 MPH. 19 staying below 65 on backroads and 20 to 22 around town without too much stop and go (and a real light foot). That is with the 6 speed. The automatics would surely be worse unless they are modified. The modified auto's do real well (my dad has one). The stock auto. has a lot of "wasted effort".

I had a Passat TDI for a while and it got 45 on the highway and over 50 around town.

Obviously the RPM's and boost make a difference.

The mileage you are getting might not actually be that far off. You may need to correct for several differnt things to include speedometer error, tire size, etc... .

First you really need to know how far off your speedometer is + or -.

I have gotten less than 15 with my foot to the floor listening to the turbo sing... ... ... :-laf

Filling in your signature would help so we can see what you have and give you more specific answers... ...
