Toyota 4 runner rear axle question ?

The real test of an oil filter is to do some surgery on one and see how they're made. You'll find that there are several brands that you won't use on anything.

That's right, once you have a filter cutter at your disposal it is an eye opener what's in them and a lot of the time it is not Fram that has crappy guts and beer can tin reliefs inside.

Did a little filter research a few years ago for my gas burners and at that time Mobile 1 filters were best with the Bosch line running a close second (at about 1/2 the price). Don't recall all the sources I checked but believe Bob the Oil Guy's site may have provided the best study. Since then it's been Bosch mainly with the occasional Mobile 1 when I find then on sell.

I always start at the top. Cat, Donaldson, Baldwin, after that I go to a/c delco, then napa wix upper end line.
I wont use a Motorcraft even on a Ford.. there seems to be lots of variation in construction quality across their product line.

Went with the Napa Gold, keeps our Napa store in town going and he gave me a heck of a discount on a case for the Cadillac and another for the Jeep my SIL just bought. Found on-line that Wix makes filters for Napa. Jeep filter is a funny looking filter???

Chevron Oil for both, Price was the best I've found $0.00 :-laf
