Even though this didn't happen - Get in the Habit of ALWAYS SMELLING the Diesel Nozzel to Be Sure It IS Diesel!!! Just because it says so doesn't mean anything... .

Call your Consumer fraud devision and report them verbally or ask them if you can send a statement containing facts and bills.

Not to say you shouldn't get your money out of them. :)

You could also send Arnold a letter, but he is probably pretty busy now. ;)

Name that Mechanic

I just re-read this whole thread and noticed how involved the mechanic is in this whole fraud. I think he deserves a nationwide audience for his complicity in this matter. Google this individual and give his home address and telephone number. Also, find out if he is ASE certified and write the certification board. Personally take HIM to small claims court. Maybe then he will then crawl back under the rock from which he emerged.

If you need a fund for lawyer's fees , count me in for ten bucks

DAVESHOE hit it on the head..... post the info on this plankton mechanik... . and count me in for $10 in lawyer fees too!

DO NOT post his home address and phone number on here - it will be deleted. We protect your privacy on here by not publishing your email address or other information on you. We will do the same for anyone else.

What about DC

I am shocked at DC's response to you. Do they let the dealers act this way. That is ridiculous. They need to step up and take resonsibility for the dealers actions. Afterall the dealer does represent them. This is an amazing story and another reson why I will keep my truck and pass on all the cool new toys coming out. I like being out of warranty. ;)

Sorry, Steve about posting personal info.

Offer still stands on legal fund,if that is permitted. Just as a soldier is not required to carry out an illegal order, this mechanic knew what he was doing when he mixed the fuel. If his boss directed him to do it,I would bet that the mechanic would sing like a canary about other shady deals he took part in as part of a plea bargain.

This kind of crap really raises my blood pressure:mad:

Wow, you guys are awesome. I don't think it'll come down to getting a lawyer, cuz I don't have the time or money to invest in a few hundred dollars. If it were the $3000, then hell yeah. But I will right a letter every day to DC and the BBB if neccessary to make sure somebody's head rolls!

I never did get a response from the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Wonder if there's a phone # I should call instead:confused:

California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive Repair

I went to WestOaks Chrysler/Dodge two times for warranty items, the first an alignment issue and the second defective Mopar towing mirrors. I was told the alignment wasn't covered on my month old Ram (purchased elsewhere). A call to the D/C 800 number resolved that issue. A year later I was told that I would have to take up my defective, in warranty towing mirrors with the Arizona dealer I purchased them from. Again, a call to the D/C 800 number was needed to explain the rules to the service writers at WestOaks Chrysler/Dodge. I won't be back.

Good Dealers/Service

I haven't done a search for "Dealers" or "Good Dealers" or "Good Service"..... but a thread on dealers that have been would be cool... .

When I was down in California, just before getting to Redding, my Cam Position Sensor(CPS) failed... . truck had 1/2 it's power and the dash was doing all kinds of weird things... . limped into the mega-dealer there, I mean - this place had a drive-up service area that was - well - HUGE... . and me arriving late in the afternoon with a truck problem and from outa state, well, I thought I would get to see the Doktor right away..... not a chance!!!! Monday at the earleist... ... .

But... ... ..... "there's this other Dodge dealership North of here in Redding - not very far away - might be able to help ya... I can call them if you like" (next DUMB question from the "service" guy in a suit please)... .

I limp over to this dealership (geez, I wish I could remember their name)... ... .

Before I can get out of my truck, the Service Manager and a Tech are at my truck with the hand held code reader pluggin it in to see what's showing... . (this is when I find out it's the CPS)...

Parts check shows there isn't one except at the MEGA dealer in Sacramento..... just where I'm going! And, the Tech tells me it's ok to drive there without the CPS working properly - so - I go... . getting there way too late for the dealership to be open, so get a room.

(here's the funny part!)

Drive downtown to get dinner and everything starts to work again!!!!???? (except for the check engine light stay's on)

Arrive at the dealers in the morning - I'm expected, and a Tech is specifically aware of me comming in..... takes the truck (and I) to his work station, tells me the CPS is working fine, resets the light and (even funny'r)... . parts search shows the ONLY dealer in Northern CA to have the CPS was the one I was at yesterday that was soooo great in service to begin with!!!! (they'd thought I had a '99 truck - it's a '01)

Well..... this whole long story about the dealerships in Redding and Sacramento reflects a "good" experience with 2 outa 3 dealerships..... and actually, I have a couple other great experiences with dealerships other than the one I have here in Washington... . but this has gotten WAY too long.....

ps: I sent the dealership in Redding that treated me sooo well a gift box from the local smoked salmon company... ... and they were not the first "on the road" dealership I have sent smoked salmon to - the guy's in Burns, OR were awesome to me too!!! (can you say "Lift Pump" @ 16K Miles!
