WOW - Must see F35 "STUFF"

Hard Starting Mercury 9.8 Outboard

Based on drivetrain only, I am pleased with Chevrolet. We have a gasoline powered Chevy work truck that we completely abuse beyond belief and the engine/drivetrain has been very good. The independent front suspension is absolutely lousy, especially since we use ours off road most of the time. We have been through more front end parts than I care to mention. I don't have enough experience with a Ford or Dodge gasoline powered truck to compare however.

either would work, I have a 93 F350 with a nonturbo powerstroke. The motor has been ok but as expected underpowered. The rest of the truck however has held up pretty well. Over 300,000 miles on the truck, with a motor overhaul at 189,000. It is feeding truck with no significant pulling needed. I am going to have to replace it one of these days and not sure that I need the added expense of a diesel.

2009 or older, Ford. For 2010 I would want to wait and see how the new Dodges do first.

on the Ford, V8 or V10?

In the application you described, I think you could probably get by with the 5. 4L, especially if you never plan on towing. From what I understand, the 5. 4L and the 6. 8L V10 deliver about the same fuel mileage when it's all said and done. So, if you think you may need the extra power, it might be worth the extra $$$ for the V10.
