How do I Identify A "Triple Nickel" 555 CTD

How long will a diesel run if gas was mixed with the fuel? This was in a U-haul truck and was opertated all day then turn in and the owner came back on the guy in 2weeks saying he ruined his engine and wants 400. 00 to fix..... is this possible or would the gas ruin the engine immediately

I can see a beat up injection pump as Gas doesn't have a lubricity like diesel does. It will run (Pending on th ratio) and will take forever to run thru th esystem. The 400 is prolly for pump down and cleanout of the fuel system incl tank.

If your buddy did put gas in the tank, 400 doesn't sound too bad, could have been worse. Did he not realize he had put gas in the tank? Or did he think it would be ok? I remember reading of a TDR guy adding a quart or two of 20wt motor oil down south of the border, when he ran out of diesel and had buy gas instead. He said it smoked a lot, and didn't have much power, but it got him to where he could buy diesel, and didn't damage the engine.

But a buddy of mine named Christopher had to spring for $5,000 for a new Cat engine in a rented back-hoe because he accidently murdered the engine somehow. :(

That just may be his ticket out!! I'd pass the buck back to the fuel station.

I don't think it will fly. The local truck stop also does a sizeable gas business. I've got a couple receipts from them that state gasoline fills when I put in diesel , but is was simply due to a mis-punch by the cashier when running the receipt.

John tell me it wasn't you.

How does the guy know there wasn't gas in the fuel tank when he rented it? How much gas was in the tank? How does he know it didn't happen after he returned it?

According to my reciepts I put a lot of gasoline in my truck;) One day I had some propane bottles filled, and some gasoline cans, and my truck and the receipt showed over $70 worth of diesel.

Nope it wasn't me. Nice thing about truck stops around here is they do not mix gas & diesel nozzles on the same islands.

On the U-haul running gas. If it has a Ford and run all day, I would consider it down for a 4,000 not 400 repair. Complete fuel system replacement including injectors.

A buddy in Seattle area emailed me about his neighbor topping off the tank on a new PowerStroke with gas. It ran rough, but got him home. Ford dealer came and picked it up and said if the gas ratio was low enough and not run long it would only be a fuel sysem clean-out. If the gas ratio was high enough, then a complete fuel system (including pumps & injectors replacement) was needed.
