No. FYI ... I bought a 'Tailgate Easy Lift' at a rally this summer. It is a torsion bar - slips into two drilled 3/8" holes. I tried a Dodge that had one installed and it really reduced the effort needed to raise and lower the tailgate. I am holding off installing mine until my new truck arrives.

Is it the one made by hopkins mfg? If so I tried it on a friends truck and you could close the tailgate with one finger! Plus its almost totally concealed, paid around 30 plus shipping, really simple and neat!

I've got the HOPPY TAILGATE EASYLIFT I love it. :-laf

One thing nice about the GateAssist is if you ever remove your tailgate, it easily unclips so just one person to install and remove.



When I haul my motorcycle and my TT I remove the gate cuz it won't open with the TT hooked up. With it hooked up I just put the truck and trailer at a 90 to unload the bike.



There was a group buy a while back on them and now there are a few companies looking at taking it over.

Got my Hoppy Tailgate Easy lift for only $20 at local Performance Truck Shop - couldn't pass that up compared to $$$ for Easyglide. Very easy opening and closing assistance.
My methodical installation took three times as long as the suggested 15 minutes. You need an assistant to maneuver the tailgate back on (the final step). Finally its almost invisible/out of sight. Hmm, does it make removal harder? I already had a tailgate hinge lock... maybe that was a waste of money with the easylift...

Wife especially likes it!
