4081102 w/o air

4081261 w/air

Summit shows 135 different part numbers for the poly-v belts, but neither of the above part numbers are listed. Of the 135 belts listed the most expensive one is $46

Carparts.com says $38. 99

I'd just give Summit a call and see if they can get you the 4081261 belt. They stock a ton of Gatorback belts, but apparently don't have that one in their system yet. My '99 CTD Gatorback belt was $27. 39 from summitracing.com

Summit has always been good about getting you just about anything a manufacturer sells as long as they deal with them on other parts.

i bought the mopar belt looks and works the same as the gatorback belt in fact the parts guy thought goodyear made them for mopar? Oo.

How about the number for the trucks with exhaust brakes? My belt looks like brand new, but I think 130K miles is enough times around the pulleys. I would like to replace it with the Gatorback though.

Since the E-Brake is a dealer installed accessory, I doubt Goodyear would have a production part # listed for that application, but if you measure it up, check goodyear's site and they should list their available lengths along with # of ribs.

Check your idler pulley while you're at it.

I put mine on in about 15 minutes. And I have bigtime back problems!

Get a 1/2" drive rachet, and a long (3-4') cheater bar, and a rag or wire tie.

Put the rachet into the 1/2" opening on the tensioner, slide on the cheater bar, work it till you have the tension on it that you want.

You can adjust it so that the hood can keep it there (put the rag on it so not to scratch the hood's underside :D ), or put a wire tie on the battery hold down bolt (keep the pipe away from the batt cables!!)

Work the old belt out and around the fan, and the new one in.

Simple, but Rube Goldberg~ish. :D

Eric

PS Watch the filltube. It's plastic!!

I use a long pull torque wrench and tie it to the front stabilizer bar from below when I get the pulley fully compressed. That is when the fun begins. I got in a hurry once and the belt must of had a twist in it. When I fired up, the belt just tore in two.

This is NOT intended as an inflammatory comment. The guys on the Ford site talk about having to loosen the radiator in its mounts and the such just to change the serpentine belt. What are the engineers/bean counters thinking? Our belts are sure easy to get off! :-laf :-laf

With some digging, I was able to answer my own question.

With an exhaust brake and A/C the part number is:

Goodyear 4081295

Mopar 53041270AA

Cummins 3941011

Now I need to find where to buy the Goodyear.

Hope this helps

4081261 or 4081265?

Now I'm thoroughly confused... not a new experience. :confused:

Yesterday I ordered a Gatorback belt for my truck (w/AC). I picked it up today and it is part number 4081265.

Looking it up on www.goodyearbeltsandhose.com shows that it should be part number 4081261, as NavyDood posted above.

In this thread: http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142544&highlight=4081265 another member has used the 4081265 belt.

Which one is right?

Just to add more fuel to the fire... In yet another thread, a member installed the Gatorback (didn't say which one) and reported severe vibration at shutdown. Someone else suggested that maybe the belt was a bit too long.

What belt did you put on your truck?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Paw Paw don't fret to much. I have decoded the sizes, and your belt is about the same.

4081265 =

40 = Gatorback belt

8= 8 rib belt

1265 = 126. 5 inch belt

it looks like your belt is about 3/8 inch shorter than the one Goodyear lists. I would say that that difference will be inconsequential.

Bryan

Thanks a bunch. I didn't want to take the old one off, only to discover the new one is wrong.

Where did you find that info? I burned up the web (with no luck) before I posted that.

BTW, wouldn't 4081265 be . 40 (about 3/8) inch longer than 4081261?

Thanks again,

Bob

I just received my Gatorback belt from Summit Racing. I think the price was about $45. 00 delivered to my Door. They use the Goodyear number with a GTR prefix. Example: my Goodyear 4081295 for 04 Ram with A/C and Jacobs is a GTR-4081295 in their system. You can see my example of sizing in my earlier post.

Here is the listing for the 2004 w/Air.

Goodyear GatorBack for a 2004 with Air

If you check www.goodyearbeltsandhose.com you'll find the correct part number is 4081261.

Autozone sold me the 4081265 belt. I put it on and was not a happy camper. It flapped in the breeze and at idle, I could hear the tensioner chattering. I took it back and got a refund.

Now I have to find a source for the 4081265 belt.

I can't imagine 3/8" in length would make that much of a difference, however, I could be wrong. We'll see.

Now the 4081295, I could definately see a problem with having it 3" longer.

I think you must mean a 4081261.
