Gauge mounting

<font color=blue>I think I will go over 35psi (which is my current boost gauge) once I finish my upgrades, so I am looking at using a "blower" gauge which is 0 to 60 psi. But it is only offered in the 2 5/8" size. Any comments anyone? Is there a problem using a "Blower" gauge for my boost gauge? Specfically AutoMeter Ultra Lite part number 4402.

Will a 2 5/8" gauge fit in the cubby hole next to the radio???

If I move my boost gauge to there I will have a open spot on my dash pod for another gauge, which one should I go after? (Will already have transmission temp, EGT, Boost(probably blower)... . any suggestions???

Please any comments welcome.

I decided to go with the SPA digital gauges because of the very limitation you've discovered. (Sorry, that's not supposed to sound like "I told you so")

Personally, I think the Auto Meter gauges are about the best out there, but it's just silly they only offer 0-60 in a 2 5/8".

As for the new gauge, Yes, the blower gauge will work fine. It's mechanical and measures pressure the same as your boost gauge does.

I do believe it will fit in that cubby whole by the stereo. You may have to do some custom triming of the dash trim, but with patience and basic hand tools you can make it look good.

If I had your gauges and a free spot, I'd put in an electric fuel pressure gauge. Maybe one with two senders (befor/after the filter) and a switch on the gauge pad to read pressure from each). Make sure you sitting down when you get a price quote on an electric fuel pressure gauge from Auto Meter -- you might want to check Stewart Warner.

Good luck...

Thank you for that information. When do you intend to order and maybe we can do both at the same time? Also what are you going for psi wise now 0 to 50 or 0 to 60????? I really like the looks of the AutoMeter Ultra Lites so I am doing everything I can to stay with the product line. If I can get it in 2 1/16" I can keep it in my dash pod. Let me know when you think you might try ordering one. Thanx

Hey, I'll jump in on this too. If you can get some deal for custom Auto Meter gauges I'm in. I'd prefer the "Sport Comp" series, but would like a 2 1/16" boost gauge that goes to 50 or 60. Maybe we can get them to come down on the price a little if we can all agree on the gauge and just have different backgrounds (that can't be that hard can it?)

Sent an email to AutoMeter inquiring about "custom" gauges, will advise when I get a reply, I mentioned I would be ordering 2 UltraLites and 1 Sport Comp, so we shall see what they say.

Kat... great. . am a lil short on time. . gald your taking the bull by the horns... i got a reply with-in a day when i iquired... jus let me know who i will need to contact with my credit card info... . what psi... 0-50????

Well I told them it would be either 0 to 50 psi or 0 to 60psi. Which would you prefer? I think 0 to 50 would do as we shouldn't ever go over 45psi on our trucks. ?? Which would you prefer??

<font color=blue>Ok 0 to 50 psi it is, will advise soon as they get back to me. Anyone else in the market for UltraLite 2 1/16th 0 to 50 psi gauge??? Might as well get it now! #ad

Post here or send me an email. So far have 2 ready to order. (still checking if they will do the Sport Comp Kyle).

<font color=blue>Ok Total of 3 Autometer Ultra Lite 0 to 50 psi gauges. 2 1/16" Anyone else?

Keep in mind still waiting from them to see if they will even do it, but the more interest I can "Show" the better our position will be. Thanx

IDPriocol makes a boost gauge that is 0-60psi and will fit in your pod. Got mine from TST Products. Nuttin' special, that's the way they come.

<font color=blue>Thx for the info Sean -

But I am attached to the UltraLites I love the looks of them. I am extremely picky on what will be visable on my truck etc. ... So I am doing everything I can to stay with them even if I do have to use the 2 5/8th inch blower gauge. Hopefully they will come through on this custom gauge tho. SO far there is 3 of us wanting this.

Hey you guys, you're talking boost or blower, right? Same difference, but how about "Manifold Pressure"? As in TURBOCHARGED AIRCRAFT. Again, same difference. Don't forget MP decreases 1" hg for each 1000' gain in altitude, or thereabouts. Guess that's why they put blowers on them. Anybody got an altimeter in his truck? Also as long as we're talking more gauges, most planes with turbos or turbines have both EGT's, i. e. , TIT and TOT [I know I'm gonna hear about this #ad
], Turbine inlet and turbine outlet temp. DieselDunn are you out there? Something else to look at while you're in the clouds at night trying to figure out where you are watching ice build up on your wings increasing the power and still losing 50 fpm. At least we only have to worry about functioning in 2 dimensions most of the time, although a few old posts come to mind in which this was not the case [Go Boilermakers #ad
].

Personally the 35 lb. gauge works fine for me right now, but probably won't forever as the symptoms of bombitis are getting worse.

Good luck with the group purchase.

KatDiesel, Did you forget about me already -- that's 3 ultra-lights and 1 sport-comp.

Come on people!!!!! Am I the only one that wants black-faced gauges!!!????? I hate to be the odd ball on this thing -- especially when I thought white-faced would be the odd-ball (nothing personal, just guessing most people would like to match their dash).

Somebody else jump in here that wants a Sport Comp 0-50psi Boost Gauge. Just think, not only would you have arguably the best analog gauges on the market, but you'd have a custom one at that!!!!

Takers!!????????

Kat. . i know they will make it... they have to make a "plate" for printing when i inquired it was $125 for the plate and 75 jus for the gauge. ... hence $200 #ad
