HI,

Anyone know which wire to use when hooking up aftermarket gauge back lighting? I want the lights to dim with the factory ones if possible. Any help here would be great.

I went with the ashtray light.

I've heard others use one of the wires off the back of the headlight switch, but the ashtray light is easy to find, and it works great--my new A-pillar gauges dim with the rest.

Fuse Panel

One more place to go too: Fuse panel on side of dash: labeled dash ilumination (I think). Be sure to wire lead to fused side (not hot side) of fuse. PM me if you are interested and I'll check for sure tomorrow.

I went to an orange or orange and black wire on the heater pannel. With dash moulding off it's easy to get at by undoing a couple of screws on the heater pannel. Unhook the plug and check that the wire you are going to tap is the guage light. If I remember right it is one of the corner wires.

I don't know why I didnt think of that... I generally make things harder than they have to be  . I was going to attempt to go directly to the back of the light switch that has about 20 wires to guess from. I think I will do what you all are doing and just go to a wire that I can find near a light. Thanks for the info.
