Has anyone installed a gauge in the ash. I would like to mount my fuel pressure gauge in there becuase it doesn't match my others. I also would like to still be able to close the ash tray to hide it. Any ideals will help. Thanks

I just installed my FP guage. Same scenario as you. Instead I chose the donut mount from Geno's and mounted next to the ashtray. I can still see the guage as long as I'm driving straight, and it keeps the ashtray available for storing small items.

That sounds like a neat idea. If space allows I would machine a bracket out of aluminum that would clamp the gauge and then bottom mount through the bottom of the inner tray (ashtray comes apart into 2 pieces). I think what you want (hesitate to say this) is pretty easy to accomplish. If you want I could look into it a little further as I have my ashtray totally removed because I fabricated a custom mount for my Jordan brake controller to fit in that space.

i smoke

seems i keep my cigarette butts in my ash tray, got the genos donut next to ashtray, also one could get the cover for small storage compartment, in top right corner, for a gauge, cover is available in classifieds, thinkin of using it for a forth gauge...

I installed my fast idle switch in the ash tray, just drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the back of the ash tray, ran the wire's through and it work's great and out of site

Lindseyr, That would be great. Let me know if you come up with some thing. I'm going to take mine apart this weekend.

I installed my fuel pressure gage in the ash tray. I used the Genos mount from VDO I don't remember the exact name but it is made out of rubber. It fits in there nice and snug just run wires to it. I can also close it if I want to.

I installed my EGT/ boost gauge in the ash tray, works well. I wrapped the gauge in some of that thin package material to shim it in snug. Nice thing is you can close it at night so the light does'nt distract you. Paul

It is a good location. We used to put FP there in the auto trucks. We used the Autometer cup mount. With my manual, I can put it on the a-pillar, but the ashtray will get used for drive pressure.

This may not be much help to you (cause my truck is a 96 and NOT a 01), but here is a pic of a ashtray-mount switch board that a friend and I made. left to right- Fog lights - accessory cabin lights - backup lights. I plan on making a box for a air gauge that'll set next to the SRS cover on the floor.
