Gauge install question...

Looking at installing some gauges and I have a question. Anybody install the pod that mounts above the rearview mirror?



How difficult?

What are some of the gotchas?

How well is it attached?

Are there any wire length concerns I should have?

I installed a 2 gauge pod over the rear view. Check my gallery for photos and install tips. You will need a little extra wire. It has not fallen off yet, and I have testing my KORE system every chance I get

Thanks JC. I am primarily leaning towards installing them in the cubby hole but I wanted takes from people who have tried the over-head as well.



My concern with using the cubby hole is that it will be hard to read the gauges with my shifter in the way. Anybody using the cubby hole that can comment?

Helped install the wiring for a 3 gauge overhead pod at my NoVa meet & greet. Had the EGT and boost completed in approx 5-6 hours (not counting the "where the heck are the instructions" time) Hardest part is getting the wires out to the engine compartment thru the big rubber, twin walled plug. We had everything working except a transmission temp gauge when all said and done. I may even add a gauge or two to my rig. But first comes better tires. Thank the gods above for E-bay. Got a matched set of wheels (Alum matched to what I have) and tires for $831 and change SHIPPED! Now I won't have to swap everything Spring and Fall with the 35" Toyos.

Installed triple overhead on my '05. I used autometer phantom fuel pressure, EGT, and boost. Everything was cake except for that the wire for the EGT gauge that comes off the thermocouple was just barely long enough to make it. I had to carefully plan my wiring to make it fit. I was told on here that that wire is a "K" type wire that should not be cut. Also, the directions that come w/the gauge say that if it is lengthened or shortened it may affect the callibration of the gauge. Pod needed to be trimmed to fit nice, but no biggie. I got everything from Geno's. They give you nice instructions and the "boost bolt" for the boost gauge. I used the billet fuel filter cap and that was also a breeze. Mounting tape/velcro works nice. Doesn't move or fall off. I had A-pillar mount on my last truck and think that it may be a little easier to glance at that set up while driving, but I still like the rear view. It's something different. Good Luck!
