2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Gauge Install

Just got my ISSPRO Pyro and boost gauges in the mail. I am going to install them this week.

I am installing the thermo coupler for the pyro. pre turbo. Is this hard to do?? About how much is it to buy a tap set to do this??

Any tips/tricks will help... . as well as photos if possible.

Now the boost gauge, I would like to hook up in the port ( i don't know what else to call it) by the fuel/water seperator. If anyone can tell me exactly where this is, photo would be nice if possible.

Lot of information if you do a search. Try a search using “pyro install” (with the quotes) and you will find a lot of information. Here are two that should answer your pyro questions. You should be able to buy an individual 1/8" or 1/4'' (depending on your thermocouple) pipe tap for the job for around $5

d-r, My brother and I installed the thermocouple on his '01. 5 and it was easy. If you do it remember that the exaust manafold has a web in the middle of it where it hooks up to the turbo so the thermocouple needs to go to the right or left of centerline. The 1/8th pipe tap takes a #"R" drill. Grease the flutes of the drill and tap and this will help to keep the chips from falling into the exaust manafold.



If you look up to the upper right hand side of the page, you will see "search"... You will be able to research old threads and there is some with pictures.

For the Boost installation, If you decide to tap the Airhorn for your boost readings I'd recommend taping a couple of inches above the coupling to your charge air down pipe. Remember to disconnect and cover the down pipe while your taping the Airhorn to keep those shavings out of the system.



In my install, I used a 1/8” NPT brass 90* street elbow fitting off the Airhorn tap. This will allow you to get a Barbed NPT fitting pointing in the right direction and makes for a nice installation IMHO .



Best of luck with your installation. If you’re new to running Taps, I’d recommend a few practice runs on both aluminum and steel scraps.

On the boost gauge piers sells a bolt that is hollow that goes in the top of the manifold real easy to install no drilling or tapping!
