I'm fixing to put gauges in the 01 and I think I have most of it figured out except where a safe easy place is to connect the lights into. I was looking at plugging them in at the 5 amp fuse that is powered when the lights are turned on, but I thought I would see if this was a safe place because I am aware of our Dodges not having the best wireing in the industry. I am sure this has been asked many times but most of the info. I found didn't say much about lighting. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas.

I personaly tapped into the dimmer wire at the switch so the gauges dim with the rest of the dash lights. I have had no trouble yet.

I installed mine this way also, still no problems and really easy to do/ access.

Kglenn,

If you have the time check out Geno's they have these cute little fuses that mount in the normal locations but, they have these little "swing-arms" you can rotate up to except a standard "spade" connector. It allows very quick access to the DC with fuse protection at the tap. I think they're called "Tap-a-fuse" not sure though. They're in expensive and a dream to use.

yes the will dim,,,, you can go to advance auto or auto zone and buy what they call and "add-a-curcit" it plugs in to the fuse box and has two has the wire comming off,,, it what i used when i did the gauges on my 97 and what i will use when i do the one he 01. 5 also i hooked my pryo up to the 12v power outlet circut so that the gauge would work after i turn off the ignition so i could see how high the egt raised after shut down
