I've searched the site for info/opinions on gauge location but I haven't found what I was looking for (I know I've seen this before).

When you mount your gauges on the A pillar, does this restrict your view any? I find the A pillar is a significant blind spot on occasion primarely when making a left turn. Just wanted to know if the gauges made things worse or if they were about the same.

Thanks in advance!!!!

I find that pillar mounted do add to the blind spot a little. But after a couple of hours of driving you won't notice it. It is also the cleanest way to mount gages I have found... . Blue

<font color=blue>I should have my pictures back tommorrow that I took of my truck, I have a triple gauge dash pod on the dash that looks great and adds no blind spot what do ever. If you look at the "top" of it it is directly inline with the edge of the hood. Painted it looks like it is factory. It was kinda neat in KC when people were looking in the front window trying to see what it was etc... . I'll post the pictures tommorrow after I get them back, I just hope I took alot of the pod itself..... if not I'll take some more #ad

What year truck do you have? (that will make a difference) How many gauges are you looking to add? 1? 2? 3? <font size=-2>

Kat Diesel,

I want 3 gauges if possible. I would like the boost, pyro and a fuel pressure gauge. I have just started looking at the vast array of styles, etc. . I would like to have two probes for the fuel pressure, one before and one after the filter with a toggle switch to flip back and forth I am leaning toward the analog style. I saw a clip of some digital gauges in action and they seemed a bit busy to me, always jumping up and down.

Along the same lines, which gauges most closely match the style of the OEM gauges?

See sig for truck specs. So far no real complaints, only lots of fun

I mounted my 2 gauges under the ashtray right in front of the 4x4 shifter(where the computer plug in is on my 98) I like this location because i didnt like the a pillar after i saw it in person. My 2 gauges are in separate VDO cup holders which I cut back 3/4 . My truck goes into 4 wheel low fine and I aimed them upwards and I can read them fine. You are really limited to mounting options and I felt this was an excellent spot.

I 2nd Rednut's location. I too felt that the A piller gauges where in my face more than I cared for,on top of the dash units I've seen refect onto the windshield, which I could do without. Under the ash tray is easy to read, before installing just make sure it's in a location that will not interfer with the T-case or transmission shifters. Your choice to go analog is good in my book also.

Just mounted tripple mount on pillar, ISSPRO EGT, Boost, transmission Temp.
It works for me, the meters are just fine and good price.
Put egt in exhaust, pre-turbo, 600 deg F, 8 psi boost at 65 on level.

Hey Eric, Saw your truck in K. C. Nice truck, congrats on 2nd place in the best looking contest. After seeing your set up in person, I've decided to go with the gauge pod that you have. Where did you get it from? Thanks

<font color=blue>Here is one of the pictures, the sun kinda got in the way. This is the only picture i have right now, the other roll of film ain't back yet. But it give you a general idea. The pod is painted with a UV resistent "matching" color and it looks awesome. I'll have more pictures by Friday I think.

<font color=blue>RandyJ -

Thanks, I had fun in Kansas City, I figured my truck still looked ok even after the 200 mile drive down that morning.

I bought it through Summit Racing. It was $55 or so and it comes "black". They special ordered it from Autometer so it took two weeks. If I would have known you were interested I would have let ya get in and see the "view" from the seat. Its literally "inline" with the hood line so its great. Yes their is some reflection in the windshield but you get used to it. Everything reflects in the windows, even the 3 lil lights on my radio (the yellow ones). That would be the only drawback I can see. But its a minor one to me. <font size=-2>

<font color=blue>A part number would be good... ... . #15002 from Autometer. Its secures to the dash using an exhisting dash bolt, very easy to put in. Hardest part is prolly painting it (Thanx Ramkids!) #ad

#15002 pod $55 through Summit

Um guessing around $275 for all three gauges let me dig up my invoices.

I'll try to have some better pictures of it, the one above doesn't do it justice #ad

Randy J,

I have the same dash pod as Kat Diesel. I ordered mine from Diesel Injection Service. I think it was around $45. 00 from them, real nice helpful folks on the phone, good customer service. They didn't have them in stock, they had it drop shipped from the Autometer plant in Utah. Had it in 4 days UPS regular ground.

I put the two post piller on my truck and did not see any restriction at all. I used the ISSPRO gauges and the only thing that I did was change the light in the boost gauge because it was not bright enough. I saw Kats truck in k. c and I liked the gauge set up that he had but I also like mine. Its just my preference either way thay look real good

I'm 5'9", and have no restriction of view with my two gauges on the pillar. For me it was the only spot to mount 'em!
