ok... i am NOT happy with the fit and finish of the tripple pillar mount that i have from Genos. i am looking into mount options here folks...

right now i have Boost, Pyro and Fuel Pressure.

i am in the works of purchasing the REST of the gauges i would like to have. here is a list of gauges i will end up having in TOTAL

Boost

EGT

Fuel Pressure

Rail Pressure

Oil Pressure

Dual air pressure gauge for tank and bags (one gauge)

Rear end temp

Trans temp

8 gauges...

here is what i was thinking...

two three pod gauge mounts for the dash. is this possible? put both fuel pressures and oil pressure in one, EGT and trans/rear temp in the other.

(this also divides them into pressures and tems for drivetrain)

that puts the most important in one, the second in the other all at eye level.

put the dual stering collum mount with the air pressure and boost in it.

boost is important, but if the others all read right boost SHOULD read right, plus the way i check my gauges has an order to it and this puts my order easier to go through. 2 gauge readings then the road. i TRY to stay safe from time to time... lol

so. . this post is looking for one thing simple... would you change anything and why? the console mount is not an option. i was wondering you those of you using the steering wheel pod like it, and i was thinking about placing one gauge in an SRT-10 pod, or maybe 2 (IIRC dodge sells a 2 pod with the handle that looks and fits right) do those of you with the dash mounts like them?

INPUT PLEASE!! this is driving me NUTS. i know it will take me a while as i am balancing the purchase of furniture and parts for my blazer all at the same time... . lol

thanks

Grant

I like it, the view is not as bad as the picture makes it,I should have held the camera at eye level ,I have seven gages install not including the PDA witch is four more.

I'm not sure you can put two 3 gauge pods on the dash unless you cover up a defroster outlet. The pod I have (Autometer) mounts between two of the defrost air registers, and with little room to spare. If you want more precise measurements I can put them together for you tomorrow night.

Good luck!

I found two places my dash pod will fit so I guess you could put one in each spot. Dead center and then right in front of the driver, it will fit in both places without blocking the defroster. You could always use the windshield mount too.

i thought about a windshield mount, but decided against it. i just dont like the idea of having them there. not sure why, but it just makes me uncomfortable... lol

glad to know you can put two dash mounts in, i wonder how easily the gauges could be read in the middle... .

I didn't really like the idea of running lines for the mechanical guages up into the headliner so I got the dash pod. I haven't had time to install it yet but I set it in the center of the dash and I don't think it would be hard to read the gauges.

how about dual-sweep gauges such as the westech gauges:

http://www.genosgarage.com/products.asp?dept=95

someone makes digital dual guages as well, can't remember the vendor.

Or you could think about a unit single unit that monitors all those parameters (i. e. banks pda or similar?)

im a mechanical gauge guy. i dont want to run a dual air pressure gauge, but it makes sense to do so...

besides, i love having driver overload... lol gauges are cool, even more so when they tell you things you need to know.

Of course, my defroster doesn't work (blend door issue... ) - maybe they'd heat up the windshield for me?

I have two gages - a boost gage in the SRT-10 pillar and a single Pyro on an autmeter column mount. Pix in my readers rig.

The only prblems I had with the Autometer mount is that you are a little limited in depth (I couldn't put the boost gage there because with the fitting and hose it was too long for the mount). I have the older style DiPricols.

I have the white-face Westach EGT/Boost combo on the SRT-10 A-pillar. This is the ideal location, and the ideal instrument, for two analog readings you need all the time. I don't like digital, so I did not opt for the SPA technique, which is however a high quality instrument. I like the grab handle so I plan to add transmission temp (after my first fluid change) as a single column mount but will use an Autometer or Isspro back lit gage. The Westach gage is an outstanding instrument but the light reflecting off the white face, even dimmed, would be a distraction when adjacent to the speedometer. I thought about going to the black face Westach, but the design of the light would still, in my opinion, be a distraction. In hindsight, I would have opted for the black face Westach combo on the pillar, but I like the white face just fine and it does look very nice in daylight (90% of my driving). IMHO you should pick the gage set-up based on specific needs, and less because of the way it looks while sitting at the curb. If this means mixing the brands and gage locations then do so.

The gauges in the middle can be read just fine. For me, they are actually easier to read than the ones in the pillar. The ones in the pillar are almost too close. The steering column mount works well. I have 8 gauges, also. One of these days, I'll get the last one hooked up.

I'm partial to the dash mount since you don't have to take your eyes off the road to view the gauges. I'd put the most important to you in front of the steering wheel, I put boost, pyro, oil pressure there, and the next three important centered on the dash.

This is what my gauges look in front of me.

Here's what I'm running and dig it.

Edit: Can someone post this for me. I don't know how to do it.

done.

i just dont like the CHEAP look the 3 pillar pod has. i have the same sutup in that sense, with fuel pressure on top, boost then EGT. i am fairly sure EGT will stay in the same place once i get the SRT-10 mount. i like having it look stock as possible.

i dig the gauges over the steerring column though. that will be the next two purchases i think. then i can run the three gauges i have now and not have to worry about holes. once i get everything else i can play musical gauges. EGT staying where it is now is important because there isnt much slack for the probe leads...

keep the info and pics coming.

Would be cool if someone made a triple pod for the passenger side with the gauges facing the driver. Put things in there that are down a bit on the priority list. Like Diff Temp.

Edit: Thanks for posting the pic!

when i finally get all my gauges, i will have 7 total. i will run one on the srt pillar, 2 on the steering collum, one where the cig. lighter was, then 3 in the cubby hole...

even though my Cig lighter does not work as i need to clean it... i CNAT get rid of that... lol. i NEED it. . lol

the cubby is where my smokes and fat wallet go when i drive, so i need it as well. the SRT column is a for sure now, two on the weheel is a go as well. that leaves me with 5 more and room for extra if i go with two three gauge pods on the dash. i could split the air up into two gauges and think i will.

EGT on the Door pillar, both fuels on the steering column, Boost, Oil and trans temp in one dash, rear axle and air in the other... . that seems to be the plan i see sticking in my head... now just for the money, along with all the other projects i have going on... lol
