Hi all,

This is my first post, I recently bought a 3 gauge pillar pod off an internet auction. When it arrived, I noticed that it did not have the prongs that attach it to the vehicle like the factory trim piece does. Do any of you have the pillar setup for your gauges that mount the same as the factory? Can you tell me where you got them and roughly how much it will cost me to get one.

Thanks,

Derek

Welcome Derek,I believe all the pods are only meant to be put over the stock ones. On my 02 I used it without the stock one and just put a small screw in the top to hold it. Others have done the same and had some bad results with being able to see behind the gauges through the windshield. On my 03 the pod has to be used with the stock one as their is a big gap behind it and it is really noticeable from the windshield. Some guys have taken and cut the stock tangs off and glued them on the aftermarket one.

I have mine in place, I am using the headliner to hold it there, but looks cheezy. I will try to put it over the stock one and see what happens. My new one came black, I need to paint it, any recommendations to where to get paint that will match the factory grey?

Thanks again

The manufacturers suggested method for installation is to modify the stock pillar cover by cutting out the speaker area and drilling holes for the wiring. After this is done the aftermarket cover is attached to the original with a small plastic christmas tree plug drilled at the top. The bottom is held by compression. Rather than hacking up my original cover I bought a new cover without the speaker, I think it was about 35 bucks. The speaker area needs to be cut out anyway. The reason I did this was because a new cover with speaker is about 150 bucks, I want the option of re-installing the original without spending a lot of money.

Good Luck

Sorry but you don't have 5100's they do not make one to fit the front of the dodge, most people use a BE5-2549 wich is the OEM replacment shock for the over 8400lb gvw. 5100 series only comes eye to eye.

Paint available from dealer in littel spray cans. Dealer can look it up by the VIN for your or here is the part #'s:

Pod Paint:

Light Gray "Mist Gray" Dodge part #4796190

Dark Gray "Agate" Dodge part #82201399

I took a wood chisel and cut the raised plastic w/ clips off of factory one. I think on the short side if you drive a sharp chisel down the seem about 1/4-1/2 it'll just but loose. Do the same for the bottom seam. After you have gotten two side loosed the other will break off if you rock it back and forth. I glued it with super glue and it did not hold. You have to use a glue specifically stated for Polyethel or Plypropylene (sp?). Tube of glue(like normal super glue)and also with a little bottle of activator. Looks like small bottle of clear finger nail polish. It'll bubble the plastic up and Weld em together. I have taken mine on and of 3 times and it is still holding and survived all summer too in the heat.

Good luck and be patient you'll get it!
